Re the Neesh, three games back and he is injured again. Not sure we are ever going to see the best of him because he cannot string games together.

He is made of porcelain. In terms of injuries he is like a poor man's Jacob Oram, heading into Shane Bond vitreous china territory

Wonder what our greatest broken XI would look like:

    Oram
    Bond
    Loveridge
    Murphy Sua?
    Heath Davis?

    I'm reaching now ...

@MN5 his bowling was good in Arabia, but his batting was found wanting

Santner I do not get the love for...the attraction must be that he's a left arm orthodox spinner which in T20 and ODI is bloody useful. Left arm spinners are much rarer in cricket full stop, and that allows them just that extra amount of time of adjustment for the majority of batsmen, (excluding the top 30)

      Love for Santner?

Maybe it's because he's recently been the No. 1 ranked T20 bowler in the world and No. 7 in ODIs.

Plus he can hold a bat.

      What's not to like?

To be honest, I don't really recall seeing him being "ridiculously hyped".

Given that he's going to basically be a Shane Warne who scores test centuries, I'd say the excitement about him has been understated. 🙂

Yeah Santner's ODI record is insane - 33 bowling average at just 4.9 RPO (which is crazy good these days) and a 28 batting average that is sure to rise as he matures. IMO he's one of our most important players in the shorter forms, and will be critical to our success at the CWC. We really need him fit.

Crowe still realised much of his potential, but he could have been even greater. I remember in his early days he was a useful medium change bowler at ODI level too before his back protested too much

Jonathan Millmow - he broke and never came back. He had the most 'interesting' bowling action I have ever seen at international level.

@canefan worse I reckon. Guessing that is why he broke down. Years later he played for East Christchurch/Shirley as an all rounder. His action was more orthodox but he had lost his pace.

Hard to describe, but from memory it was very front on with a windmill type action with a flurry of bent elbows here and there. Made Lance Cairns look text book.

Trevor Franklin - run over by a baggage handler at the airport, I think - among other injuries.

@Chris-B snapped the bugger's leg. Lucky to walk again from what I heard, let alone return to play international cricket.

This is why I can't bring myself to watch many T20s, let alone fork out money to go to one. Short of a miracle innings this game is effectively over and we are only into the fifth over.

Definitely not. Phillips is probably our best option in this format but he didn't take his chances. We need Williamson in there and our actual all rounders like Neesham or CDG. Here we have picked six bowlers - some of them can bat but I don't see why you don't drop one and pick an all rounder instead.

This is why I can't bring myself to watch many T20s, let alone fork out money to go to one. Short of a miracle innings this game is effectively over and we are only into the fifth over.

T20's are much more likely to be close than any other format. But I do agree. If it isn't close, it is boring. Test cricket is good to go to no matter what the state of the game - as long as you get a full day.
