Curtly was the man, him and Courtenay Walsh ( I’d argue the most underrated pace bowler ever ? ) were a terrific combination.
Also lots of memories of the two Ws destroying us on numerous occasions.
Dale Steyn was the last of the psycho pace bowlers I can recall.
The ones playing nowadays are so nice in comparison.
Dean Jones ( RIP ) was quite the raconteur. Very funny guy.

The Blaze have had Sophie Devine and Aus great Elyse Perry in the side recently and yet the Kerr sisters have carried the team on their shoulders.

The Kerr sisters at the moment are like Hadlee and Rice for Nottinghamshire in the 1980s - have to score all the runs and take all the wickets
@KiwiPie C'mon you know better than that. Rice and Hadlee were crucial to Notts success in the 80's but any side with Tim Robinson, Broad, Randell, Bruce French could bat a bit. Pace wise the two all rounders were supported by Cooper Andy pick and saxelby. Spin was Eddie Hemmings. You had other decent county batsmen like Newell and Johnson as well

Pace wise the two all rounders were supported by Cooper Andy pick and saxelby. Spin was Eddie Hemmings. You had other decent county batsmen like Newell and Johnson as well

Hadlee 734 runs at 32.39Hadlee 105 wickets at 14.89
Rice 65 wickets at 19.20Hemmings took 84 wickets and Randall made over 1000 runs but my point still stands - unusual for 2 players to dominate so much with bat and ball.

Hadlee rated Rice extremely highly and there is absolutely no doubt he would have been up there with the other great All rounders of the 80s if he’d played test cricket. Best batsman of the lot and a terrific bowler too. Great average but not a huge amount of wickets strangely
As I think I mentioned elsewhere when you throw in other names there hasn’t been a country that’s produced as many champions all rounders as SA.

80's and early 90's ODI's were the best especially those Benson and Hedges World Series in Oz.
10 games each plus a best of 3 final series.

@Donsteppa That's a cool story. Williamson and Boult played junior cricket at Albion just a couple of years before I was involved there.
