For sure, again more looking at it from the selectors perspective. They obviously have a soft spot for him and I'm sure if they had their druthers he would meet his potential and be the starting fullback.
I don't put it past him, Toeava was much maligned but after 2-3 piecemeal seasons in black he finally started to put it together IMO and was a really reliable performer in Black from 09-11. Hopefully Jordie is on a similar trajectory.
He's young and obviously talented so I am not writing him off. But it would be a huge turnaround by September.
2020? Absolutely
@mariner4life remember they aren't afraid to pick bolters. NMS had a great Super season and then RWC in 2015; particularly with a strike wing, form is more improtant than age or experience I think

He wasn't nearly as bad as people are making out. He made a few errors in black, most notably the quick lineout throw that Rieko called for and then pussied out of catching. He also did a lot of very good stuff - in that same match he scored an awesome try by running a great angle and taking the ball behind him without losing any pace.
The reaction to that game knocked his confidence, which he finally regathered on the wing against Italy. I'd say he had a very up and down season. DMac finally found a bit of consistency last year for the ABs (though not for the Chiefs) which has put pressure on his spot, but he's still right in the mix for the RWC if he has another strong Super season.

No, Jordie threw the ball so was held accountable, but Rieko played a role in that as well. Not sure why you'd ignore that.
Just pointing out that the criticism has been over the top. For example, ALB was significantly worse than Jordie in that match - butchering a certain try and then gifting another at a crucial stage of the match. Yet despite that disastrous performance, posters have been calling for him to be in the starting 15 every match.

Fiji coach John McKee is in Japan this week finalising preparations for their World Cup campaign which now includes a two-match series against the Maori All Blacks in July.
Fiji will host the Maori All Blacks in Suva on July 11 and after that series will tackle Japan, Canada, Samoa and Tonga in the World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup in August in a bid to be ready for World Cup pool games with Grand Slam champions Wales, Australia, Georgia and Uruguay.The Maori All Blacks will face Fiji three days after the historic Test in Apia between the All Blacks and Manu Samoa. “This match is guaranteed entertainment for Fiji, come July, and we are delighted to once again host the Maori All Blacks,” said Fiji Rugby’s Chief Executive Radrodro Tabualevu.

Really odd that the MABs would play Fiji on 11 July 2019, while the Super Rugby Final is on 6 July.
Unfortunately, there's no info about when that All Blacks v Samoa match is going to be played. That one hasn't been officially announced, as far as I know. What has been announced is an All Blacks v Tonga match on 7 September, and a Wallabies v Samoa test on the same day.
Is this info really correct? It's all maybe a bit too similar to 2015?

@Yeahtheboys The wider RWC squad hasn'tbeen named yet. The group for the first foundation day has been named. Before the RWC, there's still a (shortened) Rugby Championship to be played, which will probably be used to test some players and see whether they're up to it, or to attempt to bring some players back to match fitness.

Good morning. ABs management have confirmed that Damien McKenzie won't be at the foundation day in Wellington. Still no confirmed results on the MRI scans on DMac's right knee but should get confirmation this morning from either ABs coach Steve Hansen or Chiefs coach Colin Cooper (Hansen speaking at 11am; Cooper just after midday) Also Chiefs prop Atu Moli will be attending the foundation day, meaning eight props have been invited - regards NY

Gutted for DMac. He was playing really well again back at Fullback. I really admire the enthusiasm with which he plays the game.
Ben Smith will now be the ABs first-choice fullback. Jordie Barrett, David Havili and Will Jordan are the cover after that.
3rd Choice First Five is an issue. Stephen Perofeta's likelihood of makinf the RWC just went up significantly.
