@ACT-Crusader So you are saying the records are similiar. Ok maybe but do you have a positive feeling about the way NZ teams are playing. I don't. I see other teams improving and teams we normally beat are beating us.

    • The Crusaders have started strong, despite being slow starters in previous years.
    • The Blues have shown signs of improvement.
    • The Canes have started well, getting the W against the Tahs away and then smoking the Brumbies.
    • The Landers look solid, certainly plenty to build on.

The Crusaders have never been slow starters and win.

When they start slow, i.e. the Blackadder era, they didn't win.

We had maybe one win from four or five games when we won in 1998. Last year we were 1-2 or 2-2. There's a couple of examples of slow starts in title years.

Back to the Chiefs though. They suck. They suck bad.

Yet they're still very much a banana skin for the Crusaders this weekend.

DMac is not the guy to have at 10 for a team who is struggling. He should be selected at fullback next week. Even if the Chiefs are getting out-muscled, D Mac from fullback is a threat on the counter-attack.

Firstly the way I view Super Rugby is that as long as the Crusaders are playing well, that’s all that really matters to me as that’s who I support in this competiton.

Highlanders are my second favourite team so will generally support them, but I don’t get too worked up about what is happening otherwise. I watch all the games as a rugby fan, but it’s a competition that if you look at its history, NZ teams have had their share of ups and downs.

Post RWC the 2020 competition will be interesting. It's fair to assume there will be a good 50+ players lost to European clubs across the competition and this could either be a further leveller or put some space between some sides. Either way, the general standard will slip slightly, once again.

@shark And then it will rise again, because we still have great talent coming through.

Can't find it now, but saw a comment on Twitter like:

                Blues poor for a decade?
                "Aw that's just Auckland bro"
Chiefs lose to Ponies and Moondogs?
                "HOLY SHIT BRO TALENT DRAIN!"

@ACT-Crusader Yes a very parochial response but understandable. I don't really have any allegiances since removed from the country for a long time so I like seeing all teams play well. The Chiefs have been good for a while so it is disappointing to see their demise but that says a lot about Rennie. The Blues are worthless although I have confidence that McDonald and co can fix this. Did not see Tana in the coaches box in Argentina. Did anyone notice that?

He was the waterboy (along with Duffie)

The Blues usually have one of their coaches doing that job. Jackson did it a lot last year
