"We had a bit of a spread, guys have been doing things differently [training during lockdown].
Matson says the same thing in that article as what other coaches have said (I think Robertson said something similar on the Breakdown?). Players have come back from lockdown in different shape. Some have mostly been running because they hardly had any gym equipment; others have mostly done weights, because that was about all they could do (not living near a park to go for a run, for example).

I'm also curious if injured players had access to the team physio during the lockdown so they could rehab.

The general public could still see a doctor (with strict conditions attached) during L4 and L3 but physios and S & C are not in the same category. Maybe they gave instructions remotely but that isn't the same, especially for a pro athlete.

I did see some skills coaching going on by video during L4/L3. Not ideal, but better than nothing!

I vaguely recall a couple of solid seasons from some form of Invitational XV made up of players from unions all over the land, but excluding Waikato, BOP and Counties. Yet they played in the colours of one of the latter unions, and played home games at stadia in those unions? But it might have been more appropriate had they played in Palmerston North, or even Invercargill. Is that it?

I vaguely recall a couple of solid seasons from some form of Invitational XV made up of players from unions all over the land, but excluding Waikato, BOP and Counties. Yet they played in the colours of one of the latter unions, and played home games at stadia in those unions? Maybe I've missed something, but has anyone heard anything about whether Tyler Ardron will be available for the entire SRA comp? Considering he's signed with Castres, you'd think he'll be off to France soon, just like Ben Lam?
And then the follow-up question is, has anyone heard of a possible replacement?

Wiki says Ardron's departure has only just been announced.
I might try to go to a training run to see what extra players are involved but based on the preseason game the likely replacement would be from Taranaki (Lord, Vaa'i or Hoeata).

Ardron was in the squad as a loosie. Do they replace him with another back row or a lock?

@Crucial I didn't mention Leasuasu as I thought he had left NZ. I might be wrong but he wasn't involved in the game in Waihi.
Based on a fit squad, Allardice and Ardron should be the starting locks. Ah Kuoi has been used on the bench and Brown has also been used as a lock. I am not a fan of that. McWhannell is also back from injury which helps too.
