Holland confirmed three replacement players for the final three weeks of this campaign: loose forward Brayden Iose, prop Jarred Adams (formerly of the Sunwolves), and former Hurricanes legend Julian Savea who is great PR but won’t be considered for the Chiefs match after no competitive rugby since his return from France.

Good to see Jarred Adams get some brief experience.

This is a good article for Canes fans. More of this is needed. But I wonder about Numia. Hopefully hes available with Armstrong

    Also this

At least the Hurricanes have midfield depth, with the experienced Vince Aso, Billy Proctor and young Danny Toala in reserve.

And there was some positive news with centre Peter Umaga-Jensen clear of any concussion symptoms on Monday after departing with a heavy knock in his storming game against the Crusaders.

Holland talks about how tough it is on players. But that's where rotation is important. Goosen was great last week after he had a 2 week rest from starting. Aso has now had a rest. Players like Blackwell starts every week when good other options are available, I know its a tough one but when there are good other option try rotating players. About the only player who can't be rotated is Barrett (Tiatia who is the next option is such a massive step down). Even Perenara could be (start Booth with Perenara in the reserves). And May for Lomax to give him a rest before injury.

Also will be interesting to see who they pick in the midfield and wing, If PUJ is definitely fully fit I would give him another run at center. If not there are other options

Numia had knee surgery approx 4-5 weeks ago and is back in the gym for rehab. It's so annoying the Canes don't provide injury updates on players. No idea how serious his injury is, but I doubt we'll see Numia in the last two games.

I'd go for Danny Toala, Umaga-Jensen midfield,

Goosen, Rayasi starting on the wings,

Vince Aso and Van Wyk on the bench.

@sdrggyy I think they will shift Umaga-Jensen in one to 12 and start Aso at 13.

I like your thinking bringing in Toala but I'm afraid they will most likely use Tiatia somewhere again.

            Hurricanes depth chart 2021:

The Hurricanes have already confirmed a large proportion of their squad for next year which will provide some much-needed continuity going into 2021.

            Confirmed signings:

Props: Alex Fidow, Tevita Mafileo, Tyrel Lomax, Xavier Numia
Hookers: Asafo Aumua, Dane Coles, Ricky Riccitelli
Locks: Scott Scrafton, Liam Mitchell, Kane Le’aupepe, Jame Blackwell
Loose Forwards: Devan Flanders, Ardie Savea, Du’Plessis Kirifi, Reed Prinsep
Halfbacks: TJ Perenara, Jamie Booth, Jonothan Taumateine
            First Fives: Simon Hickey
Centres: Ngani Laumape, Peter Umaga Jensen, Danny Toala, Billy Proctor
Outside Backs: Wes Goosen, Vince Aso, Chase Tiatia, Jordie Barrett

We have a good core group of players to add to from the signings list above and the key areas for the Canes to focus on for me during the offseason is making sure they add depth to their tight five, while locking down a franchise first five going forward.

Players in contention/coming through the system/un-signed: @Stargazer Please add to the list if you can think of anymore as you are in the loop of players coming through HB.

Props: Fraser Armstrong (probable), Pouri Rakete-Stones (probable)
            Hookers: Kianu Keruru-Symes, Tyrone Thompson
Locks: Isaia Walker-Leawere (probable), Tom Parsons, Taine Plumtree, Geoff Cridge, Hamilton Burr
Loose Forwards: Gareth Evans (probable), Vaea Fifita (probable), Brayden Iose, Caleb Delany, Josh Southall, Tyler Laubscher
            Halfbacks: Logan Crowley, Isaac Bracewell
First Fives: Jackson Garden Bachop (probable), Fletcher Smith (probable), Lincoln McClutchie, Aiden Morgan, Ruben Love, TJ Va’a
            Centres: Keinan Higgins, Ethan Webster-Nonu
Outside backs: Jonah Lowe, Roderick Solo

The Hurricanes have proven they haven't been afraid to look outside their regions or even the country for talent so expect some suprises by the time the offical squad is announced for next year.

Jordie is signed to NZR and the Canes however there were reports that he has a clause that allows him to change SR sides

@Duluth yeah but for now he's signed up to the Canes. Also, why would he leave an environment where he is flourishing? The style of footy the Canes play suits Jordie to a T. Plus his bro will no longer be in Auckland next year so I expect that to have an impact on his decision making.

I missed seeing that earlier, interesting. JGB is starting to look ok now, Smith I think ads a lot of spark to our attack, shame we don't get to see more of him. Losing BB has not hurt us as much as I thought it would.
Losing Jordie would leave a massive hole though.
Is the Bus signed for next year? Might have to add him in.
Umaga Jensen has to be resigned, he is the future for us, should have got Billy's contract 😞

                            First Fives: Simon Hickey

I missed seeing that earlier, interesting. JGB is starting to look ok now, Smith I think ads a lot of spark to our attack, shame we don't get to see more of him. Losing BB has not hurt us as much as I thought it would.
Losing Jordie would leave a massive hole though.
Is the Bus signed for next year? Might have to add him in.
Umaga Jensen has to be resigned, he is the future for us, should have got Billy's contract 😞

@Darren Julian Savea is signed for the remainder of SRA only. I sure hope they won't sign him for next season.

@Duluth yeah but for now he's signed up to the Canes. Also, why would he leave an environment where he is flourishing? The style of footy the Canes play suits Jordie to a T. Plus his bro will no longer be in Auckland next year so I expect that to have an impact on his decision making.

                              $$$ ?

Auckland and the Blues are doing very well financially. The recent bumper crowds will just be adding to that.

Jordie may want to play with his brother, play a different position to help with higher honors, be offered great renumeration, or maybe the culture at the Canes is not great or he's not happy with the coaches?

Plenty of reasons any player can move.

From a Blues point of view, it's another tick in the column "Has tuned corner" if we start attracting talent to the region. It was very difficult in the past to convince players to move to us.

From the Canes recently, off the top of my head:

Nonu, Piri, Umaga although those don't really count.....

@Kirwan meh I will believe it when I see it. He doesn't have any reason to move to Auckland, unlike Beauden who moved there because his Mrs wants to start a family.

I understand through one of my colleagues that works closely with the Canes & Avan Lee that the culture is exceptional atm, and to be fair it's showing with the effort the players are putting in on the park.

Leaving a franchise isn't always greener, just look at Beauden, he is probably having his worst season (form wise) for a while. Money isn't always everything especially considering Jordie can go off and make big coin at the end of his Super career.
