Hurricanes 2020

Loose forward signings so far:
- Savea
- Evans
- Taramai
- Fifita
- Prinsep
- Kirifi
Probably have one or two spots available, therefore there is still room for either Ben-Nicholas and Flanders.

Someone get on the hotline and tell Plumtree not to fuck this one up, pick BNT!!!

I've seen people call him BTN and BNT. Isn't his name Teariki Ben-Nicholas? Meaning it'd be TBN?

@stargazer @canefan Heiden Bedwell-Curtis rejoined the Canes last season. Normally contracts are for a two year duration so we must await the ruling from Stargazer as to whether he still remains on the Canes payroll. Presumably Taramai must have replaced either him or Sam Henwood, there might simply not be room on the roster to accommodate TBN.

Flanders already holds a Hurricanes contract for a three year duration according to this article which appears to be from sometime in 2018

Heiden Bedwell-Curtis' contract duration was never published, so we don't know whether the Canes only signed him for one year (2019), of for more. It's very well possible that he'll return to the Canes in 2020.
Flanders was signed by the Canes in 2018 for three seasons, but the details - how many years on a development contract, how many on a full contract - has never been officially confirmed by the Canes. I understand it was one year development contract (2019) and two years full contract (2020-2021), but we can only be sure if he appears on the Canes squad list for 2020.
If both Bedwell-Curtis and Flanders are in the 2020 Hurricanes squad, and they opt for the same number of loosies as the 2019 season, there won't be any room for Teariki Ben-Nicholas.
-
Highly annoying when I would have TBN before Fifita, Prinsep and Taramai.
Now that Taramai is broken, they will now be able to bring in another squad member, surely?
So maybe Flanders and Ben-Nicholas could both still feature.

He’s been going well in a fairly crowded loose forward lineup.

@mikey07 I think he broke his ankle against Canterbury during the Shield challenge.

I doubt that would that would carry over into the Super season? I know time frames vary a lot, but 12 weeks would be average to start running again?

@Canes4life what a shame it’s only that don’t get me wrong I have nothing against the guy I just don’t think he’s Canes material.

Heiden Bedwell-Curtis posted this on his instagram. Maybe he won't return to the Canes? Ahh, questions, questions ...

@Stargazer hope this is true. It just baffles me how some of the talent spotters around NZ get things so wrong when there are clearly players putting their hand up vs guys that do get signed who have shown little to no form.

@Stargazer abit sad was expecting big things from him but plumtree insisted on Prinseep off the bench instead

"There's no doubt his Maori All Black selection is paying off, as within the first three weeks of the Magpies season Napier Boys' High School product Rakete-Stones, 22, had signed a two-year Super Rugby contract with the Hurricanes."
