@mariner4life said in CWC Game #9 Black Caps v England: Flem. Great captain. Best World Cup innings by a New Zealander. Both things we need. Left arm quicks with the new ball were his kryptonite though, hardly promising against the Aussies. I think the answer is Peak Bond.

Forget the numbers, they are the best NZ cricketers I've ever seen. Crowe, such a visionary, will captain as well

Run with the argument @Lee-Grant used to use back in prehistoric times when the Aussies last held the Bledisloe Cup; Sure, your 3rd XI would murder our 3rd's, but you can only pick 11 at the top, and that's why Bradman c. McCullum b. Hadlee will eventually see us through.

Below in the subcontinent, above outside.

bond has easily the most match-winning influence of the modern ODI players, hard to disagree with that even though quick bowling hasn't really been our weakness.
flem is a good shout, an opener hitting a chanceless 90-something before lobbing it to mid off would be a pretty big improvement.

@Godder said in CWC Game #9 Black Caps v England: Paddles, M Crowe and Bond would be my pool to choose from, but at this point, any one of Astle, Harris, C Cairns, Smith/Parore/McCullum, Greatbatch and Dipak Patel would be a starter. Your specs are tinted with a shitload of rose in some cases here.
