So excuse my naivety here but supposing it's a nice day do the BCs go in, bat for four overs then India go in ? is that how it works or will duckworth lewis be playing a part ?

If the weather is good, play just resumes from where it left off. If it’s a wash out, India go through as top qualifier.

Right so we need to go out swinging and get 10 an over at an absolute minimum.

As @Donsteppa says, play resumes as is and we finish our innings and India get 50 overs. Rain is likely again so DLS could well be involved.
Frustrating but hopefully the pitch has turned into a minefield with the moisture and if we can limp our way to 240-250. We will have to bowl them out though, their batting lineup will get that on most days.

I reckon it's been awesome. Lots of high quality games, the best teams don't miss the knockouts (even with rain), and there's cricket just about every day.
That West Indies one was bizarre - too long, too complicated, and just general weirdness. Was that the one where the Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer passed away? And there was that long Super 8 where you carried points, and a minnow like Ireland (or Kenya) got through?

13th June NZ get rained off against India - and looking at the form guide you'd say that is a definite loss for NZ, which would take them out of contention.

Definitely. Windies started with a hiss and a roar and looked a real chance for a semi spot.....for one game....

Rain has been the single biggest factor in getting NZ to CWC semi finals
India dust up NZ if their game isn't rain affected, hence NZ get an extra point they weren't getting
Pakistan also were odds on to beat Sri Lanka as well
Even yesterday NZ gets an extra day to hope and pray for a miracle
India spent last night getting wasted or Boult skitling 4-5 guys -

I'd like to thank Guptil for a great nights sleep.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, I settled into the couch with Blanky.
I watched the first two overs and was happy with what was happening as when Guptil is against the ropes he can sometimes take a few overs to get settled and understand what the pitch is doing.
Then he gets a ball that any other day he leans back and carves over point or "pulls straight" down the ground. So he leans back an prods his bat away from his body and gives catching practice.
I swore at the TV, turned it off and went to bed. Slept like a log not caring about the result.
