Ranfurly Shield

North Otago v Otago
Currently 7-14 after 35 Mins.
Is this on the telly! Would love to see the Sheild go to second division. Imagine the crowds!!!
-
Lovely try to the beautifully traditionally built North Otago prop. Half way through the second half on a spectacular looking sunny winters day in Oamaru and it's North Otago 14 - 28 Otago
-
@Stargazer Interesting that the try scorer seems to have been subbed off to start his aftermatch celebrations right after his moment of glory. Pleased to see that his replacement is an even more traditionally built prop, he is a big man!

I like it that Otago has decided to play this RS match in an away game in Oamaru, instead of Dunners.
@Stargazer It should be mandatory for the top teams. I've seen Waikato play in Ruatoria and Paeroa.

That's pretty normal for pre-season lower level Shield Challenges isn't it?

@Hooroo One game, usually, although - like the game v Thames Valley, the home games are sometimes played outside the province's main centre (Wanaka instead of Dunedin).
Edit:
For example, Taranaki played its Heartland Ranfurly Shield games last year as two home games, but outside New Plymouth.
In Hawera against Whanganui and Tikorangi against Poverty Bay. -
FT: Otago 49 - 14 North Otago
Only watched the 2nd half, but it was a good game to watch. Not bad at all from the amateurs from North Otago. Always a great opportunity for the small Heartland provinces to take on the big brothers.
Also officated well. Rebecca Mahoney is progressing well as a ref; gradually taking on bigger games. She'll be our own Amy Perrett (Aussie ref, first female SR referee).

I won't bother starting a new thread.

Part 3:
I wasn't aware of some of these controversies.

@mikedogz interesting but a bit whingy
By bit I assume you mean very.
I look forward to Richard doing a review of all 13 year eras of the Shield - he's going to be in for a shock.
I checked his Twitter, he's a Canes fan and he's complaining about how his province is treated. Irony.
