Jonas goes clear and starting to put some time into Pog now

My respect for the Pog has grown though, these guys have been awesome with attack and response and attack and response.

Looks like Jonas will get another 40 or so seconds here.

      That was fucking awesome!

Jonas goes large on his own for the last few kms and gets the win on Hautacam with a minute on the Pog.

      Fuck these guys are machines.

        @gt12

Yeah, this whole tour has been pretty ace.

        Remarkable racing at times.

I remember Jonas taking over from George Bennet at the Giro and thinking what a bummer it was. Now I see that he is bloody awesome and no shame being overshadowed by him.

Really looking forward to the TV series following this tour with behind the scenes stuff. Should be awesome!

          Great battle between those two.

Nice touch for Jonas to wait when Pog went down - maybe indicative that he knew he had the legs to win. He's a bit more lightweight model than Pog and in the end that showed a bit on some of the climbs - bit more pure climber.

In the end, George getting covid might have been quite a decisive moment in the tour. The two stages that Jonas won were two where the TJV team as a whole dominated. The mountain ones where Pog won, his team did well.

Good clip of Bauer getting cleaned out by the race traffic.
Those bikes and cars are a law unto themselves. I know that it is all part and parcel of racing but man they scream around causing hazard to everyone in their vicinity and are totally blinkered on doing just their job. Possibly because the drivers are ex cyclists themselves.

Not many situations around where spectators have vehicles pass them a few inches away at speed.

I didn't realize it was him. That was scary in real time as it looked like someone would get run over.

Jonas wraps up the Tour with a strong time-trial - in fact, he edges Pogacar, to answer the question about how much time Pog could make up. Even in the best of circumstances, not much.

Van Aert wins yet another stage in a phenomenal tour for him - Jonas 2nd, Pog 3rd, Thomas 4th.

Ganna has played so small a part in the Tour in recent days I didn't realise he was still there and comes 5th. Did he crash or just knackered/unmotivated?

TJV come away with yellow, green and polka dot jerseys.

Tadej has the white and currently a distant 2nd to WVA in the green (he might slide to 3rd in Paris).

Magic few days in Cahors and Couzou watching stages 19 and 20. The time trial went right past our front door (in the photo of Geraint Thomas). Solid 15 hour session with the locals on the Belgian beers and rosè.

                        That's fucking awesome. Sooooooo jealous.

Cahors might be my favourite place in France, consistently the best food I've ever had.

Lucky B'tard! Haven't been there since backpacking days late 80s. Did an overnighter out to St Cirq la Popie but ended up pitching the tent beside a forest listening to wolves all night.
Got a lift from a dutch guy the next morning who dropped us in Cahors for the day while he did some work then picked us up again late afternoon and drove us all the way to his girlfriend's farm out of Condom. Spent an awesome few days being taken to local Armagnac distilleries and eating home confit.
I do remember a long lunch in a proper local cafe at Cahors. Steak Frites and a few carafes. Not sure where it was in relation to the cathedral but it was the type of place that's probably still there.

Tobias Foss surprisingly won the World ITT. Ganna quite a way off the mark.

Remco won the Vuelta. I was only keeping a loose eye on things. He'd built a bit of a buffer in the GC, but Roglic was starting to claw things back going into the final week and was looking like being an exciting show-down. But, Roglic crashed in the sprint finish on Stage 16 and couldn't continue. So the pressure came off and Remco did it comfortably.

George is spending his off-season in NZ.

I saw him biking over the Aniseed Valley hill just before Xmas and carefully drove around him before waving vigorously behind and getting a wave in response.

                                    Fuck, I'm a legend. 🙂

Saw him again today - unless someone else is out biking in UAE gear.

He's biking and not playing golf in his livery, so hopefully Hooroo isn't going to flame him for it! 🙂

Saw him again today - unless someone else is out biking in UAE gear.

He's biking and not playing golf in his livery, so hopefully Hooroo isn't going to flame him for it! 🙂

I think they are expected to train in team gear as part of their contracts.

Tour Down Under on at present.

I think there's 12 New Zealanders riding in it, which is surely a record for a World Tour race - at least, I can't remember a number like that.

Which is weird because it isn't going anywhere near Coogee 😉
