More and more players coming back from Europe, at the moment. Currently in quarantine are Colin Slade, Terrence Hepetema and Jordan Taufua. The last two are probably back temporarily, but Colin Slade is off-contract and French sources suggest he'll be playing for the Hurricanes next season. I'm keen to find out how much truth there is in that rumour.
Lots of other players off-contract, too, but as far as I know, they're not back in NZ yet. Maybe they're just moving clubs in the NH and staying there. Examples: Loni Uhila, Isaia Toeava, Kahn Fotuali'i, Liam Messam and Julian Savea. And that's only the players from the Top 14.
Ben Franks has retired.
It will be interesting to see whether some of them and some of the players that have come back from Japan, will be playing Super Rugby again, at least in 2020.

@Canes4life He's 32. Maybe as a replacement for James Marshall? Certainly an upgrade.

He just posted on instagram that he'll play for the Mitsubishi Dynaboars next Top League season.

Financially, a comp in closed stadiums helps sponsors financially because they're getting exposure. The franchises, who depend on gate-takings for their main income, don't benefit much financially from this comp until the crowds are allowed back into the stadiums.

Yeah they're definitely gonna miss out on a few friendlies this year.

Not to mention season membership holders like myself who have already paid for games we won't be able to attend in person.

Back on stadia, I don't see they can't they have fans back in. Limited capacity to half, enforce distancing at turnstiles , food queues etc.

The issue is contact tracing and capacity I think. If there is an outbreak, it's bloody hard, and hard to keep people segregated.
I can't see decent crowds until we get to L1 or maybe lower.

Because you don't know who went to the toilets one after another, or who was hanging out in the concourse. Then you have crowd management. People would have to leave the stadium one by one.
