For George Bridge's try, before BB received te pass, Bridge had his arm straight out indicating BB to take the gap. Great play.

The second try was caused by ALB spotting that Marx had drifted too far over to him on the right, leaving a spot behind him-and he was too bulky to change course.
    Again, lovely play.

I think Ireland will beat the Boks in their Quarter Finals. Ireland are the better side.

        @sparky
It will be a physical battle for sure. Boks will be looking to do what England have done twice to Ireland this year, physically dominate them. Not an easy task but clearly doable.

Thought Bridge had a pretty ordinary game eh. A couple of nice touches but more ugly moments, including one where he seemed to almost be avoiding attempting to catch a kick. He really shouldn't be being beaten by a midget in the air.

Yeah, we did miss an in form Rieko on the left, he offers a lot more on attack and is as good defensively. Hope they try and play him into some form in the next 3 games.

I think they will have given him the challenge in pool play to regain his attacking form

I get the sense that many here are wishing for Bridge and Reece to have shockers so they can say “I told you so!”. Feel much better having Bridge under high ball than Rieko. That said how good was Kolbe? So great to see little outside backs can still thrive in test rugby. Has to be form winger in the world. Unbelievable under high ball, great defense and electrifying speed and footwork.

Are they? Maybe there is the odd person with provincial blinkers but I think most would agree Reece and Bridge are the in form wings. Wing seems to be a position where form trumps experience more than any other. That said, I'm sure Rieko will find form and at his peak is arguably better than the others.

Maybe a little harsh, but plenty would have had Rieko and Bender chosen that’s a fact. I would understand Bender still being a chance if we were to face Ireland in terrible conditions but bar injury will be tough to drop incumbents. Not sure that a low confidence out of form Rieko can even eclipse Jordie at the moment. My opinion is he should have stayed home for the other Iaone.

@bayimports welcome back. Does the timing of your return have anything to do with a certain 20+ win against the Taniwha today 😀

Lol not quite, but any win against the Taniwha is great. RWC certainly main focus, but happy nonetheless that BoP are playing well

Nothing Bridge or Reece have done in the last couple of games has convinced me that they are the clear best wing combo. They have had good moments but they are just the minimum standard we expect from our wingers.
The way we dealt with the high ball in this game, which wasn’t great, reeces defensive positioning and a couple of silly offloads to no one are still concerning.

This “low confidence, out of form” Ioane thing is a myth. If we are judging everyone on those games he played for the ABs this year then most of them should have been dropped.

Let me clarify. If Reece or Bridge score the winning try in the final i will cheer the roof down. But i also think it could turn into one of the many “why the fuck was he left out?” moments that we look back on for decades.

Some expectation bias with Rieko I think. We all know just how good he can be, so if he isn't up to his normal (very high) standard we feel let down. The other two are rookies at international level so get cut some slack.

I remember for the last 2 northern tours when we were endlessly chip kicking, Reiko was seemingly our only attacking threat with ball in hand.

Back peddling, no forwards, give the ball to Reiko and hope he makes a half break or at least some go forward. A job the youngest all black performed admirably.

Hope he has a blinder next game. He's done more in black than the other 2, but overall it's not a bad problem to have I guess

Yeah. Am a fan. Have seen what he can do, but for some reason he hasn't seemingly been getting the ball in the sort of space that the others have.

Maybe that is form, ie, positioning yourself off the ball, maybe it's fitness/sharpness, maybe it's luck.

Just really would like to see him back to his best because he has the speed of the others, but added advantage of size.

A good big man will always ...

If Reiko does have a blinder against Canada and Namibia, does that actually mean anything?

Also, of the two incumbents, who is in the firing line to be replaced by Reiko? Reece?

It won't be as simple as that. What is happening at training and their GPS data will also be taken into account. But it is hard to force your way back into the starting XV if you aren't playing.

@booboo Ioane played on the right wing for the Blues this season.

If Reiko does have a blinder against Canada and Namibia, does that actually mean anything?

Also, of the two incumbents, who is in the firing line to be replaced by Reiko? Reece?

Can either Bridge or Rieko play right wing?

I don't know the answer to that. I would say Bridge maybe could as he is everywhere on the field anyway.

If there has to be change then that is the change I would make. Bridge on Right and Reiko on left.

As it stands currently, I wouldn't be making the change and I expect the Reece and Bridge will start against Italy and Reiko the other two matches

@booboo yeah it does seem rough he is being held to that Perth performance whereas others held and judged on the next performance.

It won't be as simple as that. What is happening at training and their GPS data will also be taken into account. But it is hard to force your way back into the starting XV if you aren't playing.

@booboo Ioane played on the right wing for the Blues this season.

@Bovidae yeah I realise they have more data than we see, but based on the way they have treated encumbants previously, seems Ioane has fallen further and quicker than others before him.

GUess it will be telling to see how he responds.

Rieko is stronger and has better top line pace than either Bridge or Reece.

However, Reece is more elusive and has better acceleration and Bridge's workrate and high ball ability would be better (although Rieko isn't too bad under the high ball)

Form seems to be with Reece and Bridge but I'd be happy to see Rieko raise his game and win his spot back , just as I was happy to see Scott Barrett coming roaring back last Saturday.

                                          Competition for places is great!
