That isn't even really a scenario though is it? That is just Ireland turned up to the RWC and lost to Japan and Samoa so didn't make the QFs.
Most of the funniest scenarios (three way tie on 15 points with Ireland being eliminated) are off the table with Ireland having a higher for and against than Japan.
Sounds like there might also be a Typhoon rolling in which could throw a cat amongst the pigeons
