@booboo shake the phone a bit and apply a filter, could end up with a fair rendition of the Scream 🙂

I had similar luck with my attempts. Seeing some cool shots pop up online though. Man, some folks have got some lethal camera gear. Awesome stuff. Do we have any photo-ferners?

Just went out and checked again.

    About halfway across.

Phone still hasn't turned into a Leica and photos shit.

Video of midge/moth looking like UAP with moon in background not loading. 🙂

You need to use a good lens and a tripod to get a clear photo.

Looks cool with the naked eye.

Wife has a DSLR and is getting some decent snaps.

Got the 8 year old out of bed to watch, he's really excited. 8 is a good age, old enough to understand shit and young enough to get really excited 🙂

    For those in NZ:

    Full eclipse begins: 11.11 pm
    Maximum eclipse: 11.18 pm
    Full eclipse ends: 11.25 pm

    Well that was quite cool.

Milky Way came out beautifully despite the streetlights.

Puts ones small life (again) back in perspective.

    Enough now though. Bed.

Same here. Kids not interested - too sleepy to get up

I saw the full eclipse - was seriously impressive

@nzzp Moon was almost straight overhead so tripod was useless but did get a number of cool photos with ISO at the highest I could go without noise (2400)

More a muddy brown than a blood red but still impressive. I preferred the eclipse to the blood moon. Made a mistake by walking up the hill to try and get something to frame the shot and give some perspective but there was increased background light. Was better off in my back yard. Would have loved to have viewed it from out in the Gulf.

Some of the photos on the Stuff link below are seriously impressive. Given this was the first time a blood supermoon had happened in 40 years it was worthwhile watching.

Scene from the beach this a.m. Red sky in the morning ... plus ...Resized_20220506_051729.jpeg

    Starting from the bottom...
    Venus
    Neptune you can't see
    Jupiter
Mars (if you look closely at the top of the shot).

Neptune Saturn was further up and quite visible but not to the phone camera (And not in frame anywsy)

The photo is actually barely adequate. Taken with my phone. Samsung Galaxy S8. Which is like mumble years old. No special exposures or anything.

Just shows how awesome these planets are showing up at the moment.

Seriously peeps get up early and have a look (then go back to bed ... ).

This shot does not do it justice.

Timestamp for this at 5:17 a.m.

The fact that the stars ... planets ... show so clearly on the phone camera speaks volumes for how bright they are irl.
