Hard to see them dropping Beaudie , the old its harder to get out than get in cliche
But we could end up with an interesting scenario not too far off ,if not already, with Mounga , Jordie and Jorden improving at the rate that they are .

They dropped Cully back in the day. Anything is possible.

There is a balancing act , you need to be careful you dont throw all of your big match experience out with the bathwater ,
I can remember calls to drop Nonu for example based on super rugby form .

@Bovidae the Jordie at fullback discussion is an interesting one. I think there is a very real chance in an AB setting that Jordie plays wing because he’s in good form has the roving, kicking, high ball and chase game. But more pragmatically I think they will want to try the Mo’unga and Beaudie 10/15 again.
If Beaudie starts at 10 then Jordie starts at fullback. Will Jordan fights it out with the other wingers.
I was only talking about JB playing at fullback in the NI vs SI game. I'm not a fan of JB on the wing for the ABs myself.

@kiwiinmelb i think if this was really a trial they would have done probables v possibles so they could specifically see people head to head or specific combos, this has to be entertainment as much as anything

It has trial elements cos the ABs coaches get a week with two teams worth to assess them in training. Then they see them in a (hopefully) high intensity game. It will be a trial for those they aren’t decided on, that week will make or break some selections, for sure.

i'll be kind of disappointed if the biggest talking points out of the game are is X still world class at 10? yes....is Y still the best option at 9?...yes....so, business as usual then? sure :man_shrugging_light_skin_tone:
@Kiwiwomble I think it's a combo of ABs trial and an exciting, income generating event. It would be awesome if form was as important a consideration as ABs selection, but I'm not sure that will happen. If they'd select on form, then - for example - they should select Ash Dixon as the starting hooker for North, but I just can't see that happening. He might miss out of selection entirely, because they want Coles and Aumua to play.

I think this is the one game i wouldn't mind if the "rested" the first string AB's...we know what they can do and will often get selected on reputation/previous form/known ability/experience anyway

The squad will probably be close to picked anyway , but it is a chance to have another look at them ,
My point was more , the players that are in their selection frame,I think they will want playing where possible , i dont think there would be any doubt about that, but it also might give them a chance to try things like trying someone in a different position that appeals to them etc

@ACT-Crusader I think McKenzie gets in, because the only realistic alternative is moving BB to fullback, and then naming Black at 10. So it's basically a choice between BB-Dmac and Black-BB.
