I get what you're both saying, but the try should have stood. Chiefs would have been up more and unreachable if it was given, like it should have been. Pure bullshit. Also considering you guys are both Landers fans and I'm a Chiefs fan we're not gonna see eye to eye either way.

I certainly wouldn't be crying of it was against my team.

The way this season has gone, Gatland would've then found a way to sub the waterboy on at prop...

What a game of rugby ! The best of the season so far IMO. Full of cracking actions, dramatic finale. However, it raises a few question : why Gatland did not call Cruden when the Highlanders began their comeback ? His experience would have been welcome when most of the team was panicking. Is Sam Cane the right captain for the All Blacks ? From what we saw in this game, the answer is clearly no.
@ Pukunui : Boshier was back to his earlier form. He is a 6/7, so I don't know whether there will be a place for him in the AB squad, as Papali'i is the same type of loose forward, but with more physicality.
Who was the best 8 on the park : MMT or Sowakula ? The latter has been rubbish so far but he was on fire against the Highlanders.
Frizell is the form 6 of the SRA. He was impressive this Sunday. I hope he can replicate this kind of performance with the ABs.

Welp no where near as bad as McCaw and the 2007 Quarter Final.

Personally I wouldn't judge on one game, although I know it is the Fern Way (TM) ๐Ÿ˜‰

I've seen this one about a bit. I'm happy to wait and see how Cane goes as captain of the AB's though eh.....surrounded by AB's and not the unfortunate chiefs....

It was ALB going in on Smith, which was compounded by Tupaea staying out rather than reading Tomkinson's under line. Terrible play by the both of them.

If Trask had stayed defending his channel instead of joining the maul ALB wouldnโ€™t have felt the need to come in.
Smith brilliantly split the distance from both of them.
Then Tupaea was caught watching the ball instead of the man

Tupaea looked gassed at the end...or lazy defending. I'm going with gassed. None of the Chiefs have done their AB chances any good. Luckily for Cane and ALB they are shoo-ins because on form they might be struggling. Boshier was looking great pre lockdown but not sure he makes the ABs anymore.

@KiwiMurph Sorry, when I said all at sea I meant the one that complexity fucked up which was #13. He went in to take Smith when Smith was already covered. #23 was left hanging out there but it was because he trusted his inside man.

yep, found the highlights. ALB bites hard on Smith, leaving a monstrous gap that his player ran in to.

I'm dialing the hatred back just a little because the gap Smith is heading for looks way bigger than i thought when ALB makes a decision. And he probably can't see the defender. But it's a shit read, and from a player who should do better. And it's a shit piece of communication, and the whole defensive alignment is out of whack.

Great unders line to hit that hole, and Smith played it to perfection.

But it's all on you Anton.

Thatโ€™s my point. Not absolving ALB of his part, just think itโ€™s rough to pin it all on him. Trask and Tupaea make rookie errors as well.
Watch who looks the most sheepish afterwards and itโ€™s Tupaea. He knows he wasnโ€™t watching where he should have been.

If Cruden was on, the try may still have been scored but not in that embarrassing manner

that is the weird thing about announcing a captain so early...set yourself up to look a bit silly if he has a bad season and some young bucks come through

that is the weird thing about announcing a captain so early...set yourself up to look a bit silly if he has a bad season and some young bucks come through

The cynical side of me says Foster chose Cane to absolve himself from the WC semi-final loss.

Love this as a conspiracy theory. But, fact is it was either him or Whitelock (maybe Coles), who is unlikely to be there in 2023. Can was really the obvious choice.
