We were interested in Darnold, but thankfully his price went too high. Zach Wilson has been mentioned

Thankfully Jameis Winston has already gone to the Browns

The way the team is at the moment is completely fucked. Getting a proven failure in for a couple of years seems a waste of time. The rebuild is not only behind, but hamstrung by the Russell fucking Wilson deals. Burn the joint to the ground and start from the very bottom. With Mahomes and the Chiefs in our division (and the possibility of the Chargers making use of their gun QB) we're playing for 2nd for a while yet anyway. It is purgatory!

The Commanders just gave Marcus Mariota $6m for a year??

Good move. Veteran presence as a former no. 2 overall pick himself will be a great sounding board for the rookie QB the Commanders select at 2.

I read that Mort (Chris Mortensen) died earlier in the month. One of the main NFL reporters on ESPN when I used to watch more often.

Had looked noticeably thin the last time I saw him on TV, I assume he got the dirty Ca

Not just the manager though. He keeps taking short term deals with front loaded guarantees from desparate owners.

And the QB market economics are broken.

Comparing him with Brady is dumb. Not only has the salary cap massively increased since Brady's prime, Brady also happily took below market deals because he wanted rings more (and once you've earned 333 million extra money is kind of meaningless).

The Bears trade Justin Fields to Pittsburgh. Good outcome for Fields. There is a significant chance he will get an opportunity to start either this season or next, strong coaching setup, time to develop. I'm not totally convinced he's a bust, the coaching setup in Chicago was a dumpster fire

@1kiwi Donald one of the best, if not the best of all time. Ridiculously good player.

@bayimports Seems to be the swivel and landing on legs that is banned. Not unreasonable. I don't watch much NRL, but don't hear much noise about it being an issue.

I saw on an NFL subreddit it described the tackle as 'rare' - when all conditions are met.

it was surprising how many tackles of this nature did occur last two years. This was arguably because the NRL were trying to clamp down on it, so if it even looked like a hip drop tackle it was declared one, even if it technically wasn't. Not many this year but I would also imagine players largely have got the message.

In saying that, if a player tries to barge past you, your natural instinct is to pull them down, whether your reaction includes actually thinking about being ok to use body weight, but not accidentally/deliberately landing on the legs, is not always possible.

It does reduce the injuries that occur though which is good

Gosh LR-Z has signed a full three-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, not just a one-year training deal as was expected. I expect there are still break clauses if he fails to make the player roster.

QB Zach Wilson traded to the Denver Broncos for a late round pick swap.

That means in under 3 years since the 2021 NFL Draft 4 of the 5 QBs chosen in round 1 are on different teams.

This year's Draft starting later this week, there is an expectation that 4 QBs will go in the top 10.
