@canefan i feel in the past shows had fewer series arcs, was more week to week, often you could miss a week and wouldnt change much, not so much anymore

People just lack patience these days. I remember hanging every weekend for radio serials on 2ZB kids morning, they would go for ages until finished

    @canefan both can be true

I also think we're more distracted and plots are more complicated as we've put down series for a couple of weeks (away or what every) and you come back and look at each other and ask "what happened again"

All valid points but gee whiz you have to be careful with spoilers and the like all over the interweb.

Apparently they successfully build the gigantic space station they’re talking about and it even blows up a few planets too

Further to the Death Star point I made above.

It is FUCKEN enormous and absolutely pushing the plausibility rating beyond criticial.

But yeah, watching Andor and the intricacies of every little part you can see how the Empire had a ( massive ) group of scientists, engineers etc to make it happen.

But in the Sequel trilogy that is not enough, they have to go completely over the top and have a laser built into a whole fucken planet which pushes the ridiculousness to new heights.

......and that doesn't even bring into account Palpatines secret squad of Star Destroyers each with their own superlasers. Beyond stupid.

How did he do this despite dying in Return of the Jedi ?

    Somehow.

@Virgil said in Movie review thread...:

@dogmeat said in Movie review thread...:

@Virgil I have only ever watched the first four star wars movies (by order of production). The first three were ok but massively over hyped. The fourth killed it for me. Lucas combined syrupy sappiness with fucking awful plots and characters Jar Jar Ewoks etc. Screaming piles of shit in the main.

Dude you shouldnt be talking about this here, did you not see @taniwharugby's comment just before.
You're gonna get us nerds in so much trouble...

Also "The first three were ok.." ??

    Yeah. You're right.

    The first one.

so, i just starting playing a new (to me) game , star wars : fallen order

dont get me wrong, my preference is to leave that period of time all together....but, so far this is done well (and you could take the story and tweak it to a different time).....how come we seem to struggle when it comes to movies?

so far its a bit of a treasure hunt, there is parkour adventure, puzzle solving.....its fun!

I think this is the correct thread. Does Andor (season one) get more interesting? I'm one and a half episodes in and starting to think every Star Wars movie/ tv series is just for kids (Mandalorian being the exception).

Andor is the best SW r ever, imo. Def not for kids, a slow burn with tension and some great acting. Less action, more story, character growth and plot

Are you sure you're watching Andor? Andor is the most adult Star Wars there is and Mando is most definitely for kids (and the quality decreases each season).

I didn't realise Mandalorian had four seasons. Felt like only two.

Andor just got better when the Syril Karn character gave his inspiring speech at the end of the second episode. Amusing enough to persevere with another.

Yeah, I don’t remember much from andor I would consider for kids, generally much darker, slower, building a little suspense, there are definitely some awesome episodes coming

Andor season one was better when I watched it second time round and picked up on things more.

Even though we know what ultimately happens the stakes are still really high, we're invested in the characters etc.

Haven't watched season 2 as yet, waiting to binge it but have picked up the odd spoiler here and there. Sounds like it is doing a great job in establishing the Empire as a fascist regime that needs to be overthrown. Interested in how they use a few characters I've seen in the shorts that were first introduced to us in Rogue One. I'm also keen to see if there are any Vader/Tarkin/Emperor cameos. That might be pretty cool.
