There are - as yet unconfirmed - rumours that the Canes have signed Bay of Plenty halfback Luke Campbell.

Does anyone know more about this?

@Stargazer Played a couple of seasons for OBU around five or six years back so it could be another Wellington self centered pick

On form in NPC it would make sense. He was pretty sharp and got the BOP backline firing after early tentativeness

He was in Canterbury for a while. Fiery little bugger never quite broke into the Crusaders/Canterbury system.

Agree. But he lost his position as a Wellington starter so unlikely

Although the Canes need two additional HB. One only for a year to replace Perenara. One an injury replacement. So both might only be for 12 months

@Winger They could always call him in for injury cover to replace Booth while he recovers

Very promising First Five/ Fullback but I question the timing of his signing due to his age.

No choice. A player as promising as Ruben would be snapped up by another team.

Very happy with this signing. Hope he can be developed as a future 1st 5

Proctor was signed a few years back. But hes still only 22 so still time for him to come good. To me he's a center but needs a powerful 2nd 5 inside him. Maybe UJ at 2nd 5 might work

@ARHS Yep. Hopefully another franchise shows some interest, because it seems the number of Magpies at the Canes is only decreasing ... I think we were over our quota, last year.

@Winger Just a little odd that both long-term signings were competing for fullback berth with Wellington, and Jordie, Tiatia and Toala already play there for Canes. So, I assume Love is intended as a 10 in place of Smith

@ARHS He must be a long-term project though, because he's no where near SR quality, yet.
