ideas on who you'll get in? dont know if Kayne Hammington is still with us next year, wellington boy etc and he might struggle for game time behind fakatava, assuming we see him as the future

@Kiwiwomble And behind Jamie Booth as well as he was behind him when they were both at Manawatu.

TJ Perenara has confirmed on the Hurricanes Instagram that he will be off to Japan on a short term contract next year and will miss Super Rugby Aotearoa.

Id like to see some more of Collins. Would need to bulk but he looked class in his last stint (v NH). maybe he's a possibility as the third HB

@Winger Jerry Collins would be a nightmare for opposing halfbacks. Sadly we will never get to see that spectacle.

@Kiwiwomble not too sure, Booth will be the obvious starter. Has Fakatava re-signed? He could be an option if the Canes can lure him away from Dunners.

I also really like what I saw from Connor Collins vs Harbour the other day, he has a good pass and a sound boot on him.

Other options are Roe if the Chiefs haven’t already locked him in.

Maybe one of the Crusader halfbacks could use this as an opportunity to push for a starting berth. Enari surely can’t be happy sitting behind Hall and Drummond.

Knowing the Canes though they will probably opt for Hauiti-Parapara who has been underwhelming but seems to be loved by the coaches.

The Hurricanes already have Jamie Booth and Jonathan Taumateine for 2021. I only want Fakatava to move to the Canes if he makes a decent chance of game time, which he didn't get at the Highlanders this year. I don't know whether Hammington is still under contract at the Landers. Hammington moving to the Canes might be best for Fakatava if he stays at the Highlanders. Moving to the Canes will only be good for Fakatava if he can leapfrog who are already there (which may also be best for the Canes). With this coaching group, I can't see that happening.

@Kiwiwomble I agree, but then they should give him a lot more game time next season, or he won't be ready. It was mind-boggling how they kept him out of the 23 for most games, this year. I know he's a puppy, but he needs time on the paddock at SR level.

He has really gone off the boil this year I reckon he has been good the last couple of years but this year he’s seem to have gone to the Justin Marshall school of being a halfback taking ages clearing it

@Stargazer 100%, Smith needs to drop down to 60 mins at most and even come off the bench, close out the games

the more i think about it a couple of weaker aussie teams might be good...

When Hammington made the decision to play for Otago I assumed he had decided to stay permanently in Highlanders country.

Congratulations Du’Plessis Kirifi for being called up to the All Blacks. That makes it 9 Hurricanes in the AB squad for Australia.
