No Tyrone Thompson in the Hunters' team; so either he's injured or they keep him ready for the main game, just in case the coke sniffer falls over his boot laces.
@stargazer my understanding is that’s he’s injured but I don’t have any further info around what injury etc. hopefully it’s not serious.

Maybe he is being picked after a scintillating display at 15 whilst playing at Premier Reserve level?
I imagine they're wanting to give Love experience at 10 (given he is 1 injury away from potentially starting there for the 'Canes), but are reluctant to start him there without a bit of support. So it's all about Love, and nothing to do with Morgan. Which isn't a bad life philosophy.
I don't imagine they're grooming Morgan to play fullback on a more regular basis (fingers crossed they're not, anyway).
@bobily2 I think you’re right. With J Barrett hopefully our long term option at 15, they may see Love as our longer term 10 moving forward, therefore giving him the reigns now against lesser opposition is important.

Yeah I agree with what everyone else has said Morgan is simply there because they want to use Love at 10had JGB not been injured id imagine it would be Morgan/Leger at 10 and love at 15.

@canes4life Would’ve been better off doing what the Chiefs and Blues do with provinces playing each other this seems pointless.

@mikey07 I think that game was a trial game for the U20s; they still have to trim the squad. Also good to give those young lads a run ahead of the tournament in Taupo, although the difference in strength may have been too big.

@stargazer I understand the U20s having a run but think the other members of the Canes squad should be playing county cups like the Chiefs.
@mikey07 Yep, but the Chiefs have 4 NPC provinces; the Canes only 3. So you'd only have one game per weekend.
I don't think it's feasible to form a Heartland team from Wai-Bush, Poverty Bay, East Coast, Whanganui and Horo-Kap to make it four, and I don't think one of those provinces on their own would be good enough, even if you'd add non-playing Hurricanes from outside the catchment.
One game could still be useful though.

One game could still be useful though.
@stargazer I think it might be able to work as it’s only about getting the players match fitness aswell as bringing the younger players through.

Could do a game of three halves. You could even do a mini tournament between HB, Manawatu, and Wellington and the Hurricane U20s. It'd be a more even competition then the Hunters game
