I really enjoyed it. Some interesting observations, especially about the last eight minutes. Still amazing the ABs didn't score.

yeah, some really good points about RM taking control at the end, i remember thinking we seems to go end to end with ease but hadn't clicked how much of that was down to RM

Right now he sounds like a good impact player to close out a game. But that’s just my humble opinion...

would be really interest what razor wold have done as coach now, would he have set up like the saders and we'd see a bit more of the SRA RM

I know there’s been a massive pile on, but I’m not as critical with Foster given there are a lot of 50/50 calls with many of these decisions. I would’ve started Barrett at 10 but given he was injured it’s a moot point.

I guess I’ve seen plenty of “clear and obvious” ones only for AB coaches to do something different. How dare they 😉

Hopefully this is the wake-up call Rieko needs to change the way he scores tries.

A demonstration of his rehabilitation on Sunday would be greatly appreciated. 😉

Frizzell had two key inputs in that first try -- lineout steal at beginning and last pass.

In the slo-mo, the balls moving forward and Reiko doesn't regain control before it touches the ground so the knock-on happens before the try.

You might get away with that 2-3 times out of 10 when it isn't checked, but you would expect it to be disallowed.

                            @ACT-Crusader you're not wrong

would be really interest what razor wold have done as coach now, would he have set up like the saders and we'd see a bit more of the SRA RM

How dare they 😉

i love the early week pile on. It's cracking fun

also i am way better at the rugby coaching than those bums

It’s been a while since we’ve had a pile on with this sort of venom and all after one game!

It’s because we have been on decline for over two years and they keep repeating mistakes.

I'm not sure I would use the word "decline" before 2020 - we have been searching for key players at 6, 12 and 13 for 2-3 years and we knew we would need a new 8 in 2020.

Between injuries and form, we have failed to nail down those roles (the uninjured Goodhue in 12 or 13 and whoever is available in the other position while at 6 we have been searching for another hard hitting 6e to replace Kaino). With the right players being uninjured, the RWC squad would have likely looked very different versus the make do approach with the likes of Ardie/Cane with SBW providing the ball running awe used to rely on Kaino for.

The reality is that we have a few players who are long in the tooth and likely won't be around for the 2023 RWC so we approaching the genuine decline stage.

And in terms of repeating mistakes, looking at how SA/Ireland/England loosies approach the game and changes at the breakdown, I'm not sure the status quo was the way forward. Yes Cane had an outstanding game, but all three of our loosies play their roles individually while the SA/England loosies (and others) combine to double team in tackles with one driving the player back if possible and the second player attacking the breakdown. Something that the Blues and Crusaders also did well.

Bullshit fucking penalty. We folded Karl T like a cheap deck chair at the previous scrum and ZERO

Looked to me like Oz TH bored in and hooker also shoved diagonally left. Karl T in effect was peeled off. Some refs would penalise Wallabies for that, but because of the optics was surprised ABs weren't.

Karl packed crooked to start with - as a LHP you can't be at that angle on the engage because any forward momentum from that point makes you look bad.

Unless the ref is a screaming pile of incompetence.

Took a look. Before the hit both straight. Ref on other side and on hit Alaalatoa twisted diagonally across at 45 degrees. From there Karl was screwed. Uelese and Sio double teamed Lomax and split scrum.

                              Other things:

                              • Next scrum Karl monstered AA. Sio went down and dragged along ground.

                              • Second Oz try ought not to have been awarded. DMac didn't rip ball out -- he didn't touch it but rather dragged on arm of Aussie and ball popped out forward. Oz forward's face ('fuck it') said it all. But in book now, so a try.

                              • Penalty against Karl T at end looked tough, as even Marshall noted. His hands and knee never touched ground (was supporting weight), so shouldn't have been that, although unclear what penalty was actually for. Also in book.

                              No complaints on result, BTW.

I think decline is exactly the right word, and I think many of us knew we needed a new 8 before 2020.
When you combine that with the search for a 6, screwing up Luatua's management was quite the dumb thing to do.

Luatua and Vito-doing well overseas, I understand. Charlie would have been useful too (33 now though). I'd say decline. Stale tactics, so-so selections.
Would have liked to have seen a bit of Jordan in a Bledisloe, hoping it will still happen.
