does my fucking head in about recent generations (real GOM areas here)

No fucking curiosity, no fucking self learning, a complete and utter reliance on being trained, and having a documented process. fluffybunny use some gumption!

In my experience, an undocumented process is the best way to fuck up things. Caveat: If you can't put the process on a sheet of paper, it's a shit process.

The flip-side is... a generation of chumps who don't know how to think. So - when a new situation arises - which isn't addressed by the documentation - hands-in-the-air, panic, "you didn't tell us how to deal with the rope breaking!" bullshit.
I get fucking furious about my own tech company not documenting how certain features actually work. Cause that's what documentation should be for.
But actively fight against documenting "how to work through a situation" - because that's what skills/experience are for... and the more situations you document - the less likely you are to get the right result when an unexpected (and undocumented) situation arises.
    Fuck SOPs. I'm on Team-Thinking.

Yep. The more you”manage” people, the less they think. Not a generational thing, more just a fuck off and let me do my job thing.

    Adding to the LinkedIn collection.

I suppose there's only so much stuff that can be said about work on there, and any excuse to talk sport...

An intelligent sheep is a dangerous animal.

Not a generational thing, more just a fuck off and let me do my job thing.

But if people were allowed to do their jobs, there's be less jobs for managers

Grumpy Friday: the boy is going out to a local pub with some mates. A couple of said mates have come in to "chill" before they head out.

They're both fucking know-it-all little fluffybunnies. I refuse to engage with them.

When you get home from work and go to get a beer and some inconsiderate bastard has left the drinks fridge door open and the temperature reads “not fucking cold anymore”

End of year conversation with the boss yesterday. Some Senior managers - who I barely interact with - saw me having a grumpy day or two, so they wanted to give me an adverse performance review.

My boss said "no" to his credit, as the work I produce is top notch - which nobody disputes. But it came with a warning.

I've figured out I'm just a grumpy old man who has been at the same place for 17 years, and need a change. After all, the top notch work I'm producing to help them drive change is not being used by them to drive change, which is extremely frustrating.

Haven't touched my CV since 2015. Yeesh.
