I had dinner in a restaurant called Town in Drury Lane last night.
The loo options there are, door number one “Stand Up”, door number two “Sit Down”.
It’s so gender yesterday to have Men’s and Women’s.Always been a fan of taking a shit on the ladies'.
Important apostrophe that. -

It’s so gender yesterday to have Men’s and Women’s.Not to drag this thread into the trans debate but this annoys the crap out of me. No one wants it. I don’t want to share a unisex toilet with women, it feels awkward, I feel guilty about being in there, more importantly, it’s not as safe for women and I don’t know any that want it.
Was in Stockholm last week and lots of the bars and restaurants had this set up and I hated it. With the Supreme Court in the UK clarifying that when you say women’s and men’s it must be based on biological sex I worry that the woke brigade will force us down this path and I will forever feel like a dodgy old perv when I go to the loo

You could just try and moderate your behaviour a little?

And just what the fuck is a "tactical" tool bag?

As a grumpy old man I’m a long way past that point
Just wait a few years and you'll be lucky to get to the loo in time!
Problem solved.
You're welcome.

I dunno, but a tactical stool bag could be a solution for @Dodge

Amount. It seems to me the misused word of 2026.
I'm certainly looking forward to getting grumpy about that...
To be fair - there's a fair few grammar rules I'm bad at (mostly around the whole discrete vs continuous thing - fewer/less, etc) ... not something that was really taught in the schools I went to... but when you do know a rule, or rather - the fucking meaning of a fucking word - it is irritating as shit.
"... amount of <discrete number>..." does 'feel' wrong even to me.
Like how the order of adjectives just seems 'natural'.
I would guess I've made about 3 grammatical errors in this post, but at least I never used the words "ironic" or "acronym" incorrectly. The order of adjectives is a good example of how almost no native speaker learns the ‘rules’ they just ‘know’ by what they hear around them. So the big, red, fun bus sounds correct whereas the fun, red, big bus sounds clunky.
A good reason to have at least some people who speak correct English on the box.
Once upon a time the BBC were the Gold stan’art!

That fucking febreeze ad, with the script actions of the only actress announced as a voiceover in a couple of scenes. Holy fuck why does it make me so irate?
I raise you the fucking moronic woopin' and hollerin' you get on Strictly Come Dancing
I leave the room when Mrs M watches the bloody thing and still hear in the next room.

Daughter is in the middle of final high school exams, with a twist:
Thursday: English paper 1
Friday: English paper 2
Saturday: her 18th birthday
Sunday: study <<< we are here*
Monday: Studies of Religion
Tuesday: Modem History
Wednesday: MathsAt that point she's finished. Fucking brutal week to celebrate your 18th but at least it's over and done quickly.
So what's the issue?
Being her 18th birthday on Saturday her bf brought her lovely presents and one of her friends dropped in to give her more. Obviously as her family we showered her in gifts and attention.
But the majority of her friend group at high school didn't even message her.
And that is what has derailed her entire preparation for the last 3 exams. Up crying about it all night.
Firstly I'm grumpy that these inconsiderate bitches didn't take 30 seconds out of their day to acknowledge her. Particularly after she made a big deal of their birthdays. Even when she comes home and talks about why she's not going to be friends with them after high school.
Secondly I'm grumpy that we had a whole bunch of attention focused on Miss TA from the rest of us but THIS is what she is hung up on.
Thirdly I'm grumpy that Mrs TA is now sitting here on they lounge,
sittingsighing heavily, and looking for a solution that doesn't exist.Internal NTA wants to say "life sucks, harden up, you haven't a choice, daughter of mine. Also: fuck those bitches".
But we've catered for this bullshit up to now so we've no choice.
Bah humbug

Grump part 4: had planned a Sunday out with Mrs TA followed by touch footy with the boys down at the club. I got the touch footy at least, and came home in a good mood to a pair of fucking thunder clouds in female form
Yeah I'm p
retty and selfish but fuck how long are you going to keep inconsequential people live rent free in your head? -

Have no solutions. Miss Boo Jr kinda lost contact with her bestie almost as soon as she left school, and frankly fuck her. Quite weird.
Is now 22, just graduated, and now has got a good bunch of room mates ....
... I dunno, but teenage dramas are a phase that they need to go through, a n d they'll grow out of

@NTA said in Grumpy Old Man:
@booboo growing out of it some time in the next 10 hours will be fairly critical in terms of her exam tomorrow.
How the fuck are these people going to deal with life?
By realising that the next exam doesn't define you.
She'll get there.
I think school doesn't do a good job of defining you. Trying so hard to get good results to get into uni for the sake of it needs to be put into perspective.
Asking a 17-18 yo to define success based on results of a one off exam is shit. I think kids need to be able to sit back and work out what they want to do with their lives.
Having said that, dealing with the pressure of exams is a good thing. Part of growing up.
Hope she finds something she enjoys and makes a career of it.
Having those discussions with Ms Boo Jr currently.

@booboo she wants to do teaching - primary school thank fuck. If this is a sample of her mental fortitude then no way is she capable of high school.
What's also shitting me is we sent her to a psych to address the anxiety, which had been ongoing the last couple of years.
While I accept it's a journey and not just a solution, we paid quite a bit for her to learn tools to deal with just such a situation.
And now Mrs TA is in tears.

Perfect.

Mrs M just morphed into a thundercloud after I suggested she not be so sensitive about some frozen fish which had clearly gone off when thawed - "Shit happens".
Only trying to calm her down, FFS, and it's a mini-explosion.
