Be interesting to see if Fozzie makes changes other than injury related. Hope he doesn't

Can't see 6-8 changing as that looks to be his preferred option and 9-13 will probbly stay the same. Just don't get the Jordie Barrett selection. He deserves to be in the team, but at 14?

I'm interested to see what happens there with Moody's situation, as well as any other niggles that get a look.

You'd think, having won by 20, there won't be much to change, and the question is how Rennie responds.

I didn't think there was much wrong with our side besides a couple of brainfarts, but Toomua's absence creates issues in terms of selecting a ball playing 12 with a boot who can bring maturity to that backline.

When he went off, Paisami moved in, and I thought things got a little flaky through the middle there.

Key question I think for Rennie is how he responds to the AB physicality at the breakdown

When he went off, Paisami moved in, and I thought things got a little flaky through the middle there.

Not helped by the fact the AB's had an experienced midfielder at 13 whose defence was Nonu-like.

Even with that, we were making serious metres pretty much all game without the ability to finish things, so the ball was quick enough and mostly used well (though not often enough). That is a sign that we can nullify or work around more physicality. And in fact our ruck loss count (and percentage) were similar to yours.

Missed tackles was a massive difference - and that isn't breakdown physicality.

I'd still have the midfield swapped around but it went O.K. last week and they seem to be flexible about it on the field i.e the numbers don't matter too much.

Fozzie obviously has a plan though - it's not a trivial move to swap these guys around.

So does Jack offer a bit more size to run hard at the line - i.e. for Aaron Smith's try on Sunday? Or does ALB (and Rieko) offer a bit more speed at centre?

            Or is it more defensive?

A and B i reckon. JG fair smacked in to the line a few times on the weekend, and created quick recycle. He's also solid defensively

It makes sense, but my only concern with JG at 12 - currently - is his range of passing. We've seen it a couple of times over the past 2 tests that he's not so great with long passes and struggles particularly off his left. When playing 13, this is OK as he's required to throw generally shorter passes to a fullback hitting the line or a winger in space

@Kirwan I think the lighting on that shot isn't great. If it is anything like the colour of the indigenous jersey we wore at RWC19 it'll be a bit closer to a Bok shade of green.

Hard for me to tell anyway, being mildly colourblind.

Surely that was a miscommunication though? It didn't seem to slip out of the hand, I thought it looked like BB missed his assignment?

It surely wasn't for anyone else, it was 3m short of Clarke on the wing.

My opinion is that we are still in must win territory so hard to see many changes outside of injured or unavailable players being out or fit players returning. Jordie at 14 is definitely not the future but I am guessing Fozzie will be reluctant to put Reiko under the pressure of switching positions and we know he will not give Jordan a starting debut, if anything he would come off the bench so I think Jordie definitely starts again at 14.

We need exactly the same team, because that's worth an extra seven points.

I wondered if that was per player? We could get more points by multiples of 7 for each guy that was put back in position?

@Snowy yes I think Ben Darwin does mean that
"Ask a rugby player – in either code – to wear a different number on his back and fulfil a slightly less familiar role in a big game and, on average, his team score seven points fewer per game."
So if we play, what, 5 people out of position, then put them back..35 extra points!

Already a question mark on availability of Ardie, Reece and Nepo due to baby-watch. If this comes true then match day squad will change.

yes, hello, my name is mariner4life and i have a question

if you are a professional rugby player from NZ, why are you timing babies for mid to late October? in a normal year all 3 of those guys would be expecting to jet off to Europe about now.

It’s what we put upon them that is magical. Nor is there statistical evidence that any coach is better than the norm.”
So when you remove key players, the replacements aren't as good.

@mariner4life on watching that pass again im thinking someone wasnt where they were supposed to be, it was so far short of Clarke, yet BBarret was inside Clarke right where the pass woulda hit if he was up in the line.

Edit @voodoo got to it first

Mentioning magic, aura etc. is starting on the back foot even if you are attempting to debunk it. Almost as bad as refusing to say All Blacks as if it is some incantation that strengthens them.

My opinion is that we are still in must win territory so hard to see many changes outside of injured or unavailable players being out or fit players returning. Jordie at 14 is definitely not the future but I am guessing Fozzie will be reluctant to put Reiko under the pressure of switching positions and we know he will not give Jordan a starting debut, if anything he would come off the bench so I think Jordie definitely starts again at 14.

I'm hoping that Fozzie reassesses his conservative selections and look at how well Clarke went in his first start. Put your best players out there, if a kid has been in better form select him.
