@Kirwan maybe they prefer the Wing/FB option on the right side?

This seems to be where they have always had that player (Jane, NMS, Smith when he played wing and now Jordie) so maybe there is some analysis around kicking going there more often which is why they go there rather than 11?

Rieko was decent but I'm not sold he's our right winger either - two of the runs that stand out to me last week - one where Rieko got the ball in space and ran and threw a forward pass to Richie on ABs own 22 and secondly where he cleaned up the bad throw in from Reece I think it was but then he went himself but didn't keep his feet but instead got chopped down in a tackle and conceded a penalty for holding on.

He must be out of form if he's passing to players in the stands

    This.
I guess if the oppo 10 is more naturally right footed then they are going to kick left to our right winger.

All three of those players, when picked, were very elusive and quick and didn't lose anything playing them on the wing. Jordie is not much of a step up from Bridge on attack IMO. Both do good things, but are streets behind players like Reiko and Clarke (and potentially Jordan) at making the most of a one on one situation or finishing on the wing.

How the fuk has Jordie started every game? Is he seriously first team calibre now that we cant afford to not play him?
If thats the case, the AB's are in a terrible state.

he's a game winner...i mean, not this year...but hes a game winner, get use to it!

@Kirwan I miss the old days when raw pace and the ability to beat a man was what a winger was judged on.

@Kirwan but thats not the point...it was when we have that hybrid FB/Wing we seem to push them to 14, not 11, there must be a reason they do this given it has happened since Ted's days.

What is also interesting, is I do not think they have ever done it with D-Mac though, when I would expect pushing him to wing would be a great way to involve him (if you were starting him with BB at 15)

I would say there was almost zero chance of Frizell being dropped after being rested after two strong performances even if Akira is the peoples favorite.

Two strong performances? Two ok performances more like it - although I still haven’t done a tv watch of BC3 to see if he was better than live at the ground like some posters suggested.

I said it before I think he plays super tight makes the hard yards, puts in the tackles, we need that hardness. Akira might have the same stuff but hes not dropping Frizell when he is doing exactly what Foster wants.

You and Fozzie see a lot more in Shannon than I do - I didn’t notice it when watching him live.

I rate Frizell and think he deserves to be in the running, but Akira played well the other day and i would have given him another shot

One thing neither Reece or Rieko offer is a kicking game - it's crazy to me these guys don't work on these sort of skills as professional players.

Jordan may have concussion issues still, otherwise I think our starting wings next year will be Clarke/Jordan. Beauden fullback, with Dmac on the bench. ALB/Rieko midfield.

its a really good point, i find it quite noticeable as we in otago rely on Koroi and Nareki kicking quite a lot, especially on the left foot, both have canons for smaller blokes

Btw I dont see how Jordie is any more solid than any other player in the backline to take care of the 14 position which is apparently bombarded by the opposition kicking. There seems to be this fallacy where people see a player with limited attacking ability and therefore assume he must be solid and safe with other areas in the game.

Ben Smith was our safest player as well as one of our most dangerous ball in hand. Beauden with all his flair is just as solid under the high ball.

Reece has even admitted that this is a big work-on.

If he could get bigger stronger and faster, and develop some line breaking ability too that would be great

Wow. That's a kick in the dick for Akira Ioane.

Loving the logic in Foster's selection tho: "we made a shit-ton of changes and lost, so now we're going to make another shit-ton and win!"

Which they would anyway, because Argentina 🤷♂

I would agree he seems to slow for the wing, brought it up a few weeks ago that I don't get Jordie keeping his place, but after he scored the try and made the try saving tackle in Bled 3 I had the feeling that he was not getting dropped (unless rested) , and that Fozzie had him as the number 1 right wing.

@canefan and not make unnecessary mistakes...
He did seem faster last year.

I'm going to address the gazelle in the room-is BB playing well enough to be in the team?

Frizzo vs Akira. Seems to me Akira was up earlier and wrecking havoc in their line totally destablizing their attack but what do I know..

Defo playing well enough to be full-back. Can't complain about the results when he has.
