A triangle doesnt tell a story.

My preferred flag tells a story about an emblem that is inherently New Zealand. It says to me New Zealand is proud of our environment as represented by that emblem. And that we live in a part of the world where we can view the Southern Cross.

I like it. It is not bland. It is not boring.

The teiangle does not tell anyone anything about New Zeaand. It says "triangle".

And yes Quo Vardis I know nothing about vexillology. But i know triangle is the least expressive option and moves me not one tiny bit.
