At the risk of sounding like a broken record, what actually is the rationale for playing Jordie at 14? Does anyone know? Has Foster explained it? Don't seem to have seen any evidence in the games so far of his particular skills being exploited.

Good to see Akira being given a crack. Had my concerns, but liked his attitude during his last outing

A lot of that is actually legible. People must be staying in school longer these days.

      Just.
      Webber? Clack? Amoua?

I really hope that they are good because we haven't been doing very well.

We've suffered ever since Ciaran Reed retired.

This Ikara bloke at 6 could do OK there.......

I read somewhere Foster did mention kicking was a reason but not sure where that is now, and JB has hardly kicked!
PERHAPS it is because of experience. All that experience JB has at wing. Sigh.
Or because Plumtree loves people who play for the Canes.
Speaking of experience, no wonder Foster does not pick Sotutu and Aoane to start together. Never played together before, I am sure 😞
Nope, lets have a Chief a Cane and a Blues start together as loosies. Experience!!
Oh dear oh dear oh dear...

It's pretty standard to pick a Barrett for something the game plan does not actually achieve in this coaching set up. Scott to challenge line outs, Jordie to kick, beaudy to be dangerous from the back

A few “tough” decisions ahead for Foster and co.

I reckon Scott Barrett, Akira, Sotutu come into the starting lineup.

2/3 right. Things starting to look better for Fozzie.

Good that he's selected Akira, unsure about Barrett, but both of those two changes are choosing between specialists.

Sadly, the Sotutu one is the worst, although easiest justified because experience, but it means that the selectors still aren't facing up to the 'Pick Both' trouble they've forced themselves into. The continued selection of Jordie exemplifies that.

@gt12 I didn’t bother to mention Jordie because I was pretty certain that they would select him, so wasn’t even going to go there.

I think Savea has played pretty well overall but thought they might spring a surprise and start Sotutu and use Ardie to close out the match.

Scott Barrett is due a big match I reckon.

@Victor-Meldrew I believe Jordie was put at 14 to give nz an offensive and defensive weapon for the aerial bombardment tactics of the type mastered by Finlay Christie last weekend.

Can understand the ALB/JG thing as they often swap positions but I continually scratch my head at JB at 14.

Trying to think positive, Fozzie has at least tried for consistent team selection and can see why he wants at least 2 experienced loose forwards starting. Perhaps in a few games time he'll have Sotutu & Akira with some experience under their belt and have a decent squad at 6,7 & 8.

Understand the offensive bit, but we don't seem to have used it for some reason. The defensive bit makes sense if we're playing the Wobbles. But we're not.

Bit of a conundrum discouraging the opposition from an aerial bombardment when you could play the likes of Reece and McKenzie to draw in more good ball for counter attacks which are typically our strength. Playing Jordie with his height and powerful boot shows intention for attacking in opposition territory and playing safer in your own. That is my interpretation from what has been said.

A good reason for playing Jordie at 14:

We’re in our 22 and Argies fanning out and tackling well. Nuggie fires to Jordie and he boots it into stand.

Play restarts with Pumas throwing in 5 metres in their own half.

It's a double-bluff - Pumas expect Jordie to boot the ball into outer space and set themselves up accordingly. However, Foster - the wily old fox - has other plans: Nuggie to ignore Jordie in the pocket and instead fire a bullet pass out to Mou'unga who quickly shovels on a hospital pass to JG, who's stood flat-footed as he's smothered by the Argie backrow well behind the advantage line. Genius deception from Foster & Co.

Genius deception from Foster & Co.

Some called it keeping your powder dry.

                                  Oh how we laughed,

Scott Barrett is due a big match I reckon.

Has he ever actually had one? He must be massively overdue

French series in 2018. But his form in Black since has been up and down in my view. His best work has probably been as an impact player off the bench. He needs to step it up.

Something about this sentence sounds rather rude and unsettling. Just can't put my finger on it.

If they pull Akira early or put Sotutu on with less than 30 minutes to go I will blow my top as spectacularly as a double-jointed stripper strapped to gelignite on top of a tugboat.
