🤔 I might be thinking of someone else rather than Kumble OR I was looking at his stats versus Australia:

    https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/30176.html?class=1;opposition=2;template=results;type=bowling

Average: In India - 24.46, in Australia- 37.73. Both datasets are 10 matches.

Interestingly, when you do the same analysis with Warne it is even more stark just how India liked facing him (and got a shot at him early in his career, too):

    https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/8166.html?class=1;opposition=6;template=results;type=bowling

    Average: In India - 43.11 (9 matches), in Australia - 62.55 (5 matches).

So can we surmise that Warne was quite shite against India then ?

@MN5 I don't think he took many wickets early on, and probably didn't have enough pizza shops available on the subcontinent

Every greats stats can be picked apart to some extent. I don’t think it’s possible for an individual to excel against absolutely everyone.

They do have a point about Warne though, I do remember him struggling against them before he made it big.

it was outstanding. What a bowler. THis bowling attack is relentless - not many teams are going to get 500 against them. Strong as oxen as well, no real injuries all series

@nzzp yeah, there are times when a batsman must concede he's done nothing wrong and the bowler has nailed it. That Pujara wicket was one such instance

Some days Pujara plays that shot over and over and it finds the middle of the stick. Some days it gets a ball like that.

Rahane, on the other hand left 3 similar balls and only had to leave the next one. Test cricket is great. It's so complex and so simple at the same time 🙂

@Siam Very poor batting from Rahane, falling into a simple trap like that.

Apart from the Pujara dismissal, the other 3 dismissals have been either poor technique (Gill), or reckless batting (Sharma and Rahane).

Agarwal second ball after lunch. These Indian batsmen have the concentration span of an IPL player.

In all seriousness, too many poor shots from players who generally should know better...

Hazlewood is effortless through the crease and it.sings down at 140

And bang he gets another. What a bowler.

Fucking shit shot again dick head piss off

Black Caps currently have the best pace bowling unit that’s ever played at one time.

Australia do too and theirs is better than ours.

Given the results in the last 8 matches in Australia, I wonder if India don't have a pace bowling unit equal or better than ours🤔

Put another way, how would we go with Boult, Timmeh, wags, Jamieson and Kane not playing? Bumrah, Yadav, Shami, Virat, Ashwin, Jadeja.

Of course we'd just drop Timmeh in order to beat Australia...

Back to reality, the game is delicately poised, due to the weather forecast.
Got to build the lead but not take too much time. Tailor made for Warner in the second dig

Set them 350? Stats say that's very rare to chase down but it looks vulnerable to the naked eye.

Actually that's a pretty fair call, Easy to wank on about their batsmen ( and they as a nation do ) but they also have a fine bowling attack, naturally both nations have spinners we can only dream about too.

@MN5 years ago they got Lillee to help set up a pace bowling program. Since then they've apparently used McGrath too. Given how shit their pace attack used to be, it's a remarkable improvement

@MN5 years ago they got Lillee to help set up a pace bowling program. Since then they've apparently used McGrath to. Given how shit their pace attack used to be, it's a remarkable improvement

"shit" might be a bit rough but they were definitely military medium on the whole. I always found it odd that next door neighbours Pakistan could produce Hall of famers like Imran, Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib etc and the best they could manage was Srinath, Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma......a definite step down in quality.

@MN5 yeah shit was a shit adjective. They used to have one perform well with runs coming thick and fast off the others, well in Australia anyway.
