@Chris-B i reckon the timing of the next wicket determines the whole series (jesus i sound like Bruce McAvaney)

@mariner4life I think it's a tad more specific - it's when Smith gets out. I can see Green going but Paine and the tail sticking with Smith and them putting on another 100 or so.

@barbarian i can still see a scenario where Paine locks an end while Green hits out.

It's in an amazing spot, regardless. Fingers and toes crossed the weather holds out, be a real shame if it buckets down.

Wait for the Indian chase to pull out the Bill Lawry classic "they're close enough if they're good enough"

It's been such a fun series, mainly because the balance between bat and ball has been about right in every test. Weird to think there's only been three centuries - Smith, Marnus, Rahane.

So many batsmen on both sides have done the hard yards and then thrown their wicket away between 30 and 50.

It's funny that a lot of people (definitely including me) thought that this series was a write-off once they got rolled for 36 and Kohli poking on off.

The really fortified them though. It's been an incredible series to watch. I don't miss rugby one little bit at the moment.

India have been very good this series. Even in the first test, they were marginally ahead before getting rolled batting. Surviving a hundred or so overs against this pace attack takes some doing. Much respect - they have really dug in and battled hard. Great cricket to watch generally.

I guess that score was such an anomaly it was easier to recover from, rather than say 80 or 90.

The Aussie bowlers haven't been anywhere near that good since.

it was also a pink ball test - another reason for it to be an anomaly.

Siraj wouldn't have wanted to have been reading that in the lunch break!

Shades of Herschelle Gibbs dropping the WC?

@KiwiMurph Not quite as easy as Herschelle's ,but that might be the series right there.

                            And now they've dropped Green.

                                        Paine must be expecting rain.

They're going quite a bit harder than necessary if there's still 4.5 sessions to play.
