    @Dan54 No sympathies from me. They should live within their budgets like everyone should. In addition they received a massive payout from some outfit that brought a chunk of something to do with their Premiership a year or two back that was supposed to be the panacea to all the financial problems overzealous and overspending owners had indulged in.
    Guess the owners of the television rights will now be withholding a decent chunk of money now the sellers of those rights are unable to supply the number of matches for telecasting they contracted to do?

    Not suggesting sympathy for them mate, just saying I get no pleasure out of it. And as a rugby man, I don't want these things happening to any clubs. There are reports some clubs in MLR are struggling a bit too.

                      They're nuts!

                      https://www.rugbydump.com/news/sin-bin-power-play-proposed-by-rfu-along-with-other-huge-reforms-to-the-domestic-game/

                      One of the key individuals behind the plans is RFU director of performance, Conor O’Shea, who also outlined changes to the game which will be trailaed during the competion. It is unclear how the majority of these adaptions will be achived pratically, but O’Shea noted the following reforms:

                      • Incentivising tries scored from outside the opposition’s 22
                      • Reducing the amount of kick-tennis”
                      • Reducing the time wasted by reset scrums
                      • A sin-bin ‘Power Play’

                      The last point is of particular note – once a game the opposing team captain will be able to chose a player to spend 10 minutes in the sin bin. The captain can choose when to use this but will have the power to reduce their opponents to 14 men, without them being sent off by the ref. Quite the radical proposal!

                      There's also an article in the Telegraph about this, but it's pay-walled, so I don't know whether there's more info.

                                If it was used as intended, it would most likely lead to more injuries and fouls.

                                If they're smart, they'll just only use if the other team do, and at the same time.

                                        @Daffy-Jaffy that makes sense, totally.

                                        I mean, what a great idea, get the best player from the opposition sent off, that'll please the punters to see even less of the star players.
