@nzzp just about every Crusader supporting poster has acknowledged the Saders didn't get the job done. Not sure many are that disturbed at missing out.

Posts in this thread seems to show the opposite is true for a percentage of them.

Who? I got triggered in the usual way, but that wasn't about the Saders not making the final. I am honestly not that bothered about that. @shark expresses his views in a way that was perhaps designed to get a bite, but it didn't sound sound like throwing his toys out of the pram. He said he is not all that bothered, and his posts earlier in the thread would show that he is consistent in his criticism. Have I missed someone else having a dummy spit?

Surely you see coming and here or the final thread and giving any kind of post about how this doesn’t mean as much or anything or the crusaders were still the best over all can come across like sore losers

Any kind of congrats to the finialists with a caveat are a bit…

Legitimate comments on what a poor structure the whole Comp is might be better placed after the final rather than directly after the crusaders were knocked out

Actually starting to look forward to the final! But then I can't remember when I didn't look forward to a game of rugby in my life!
I know we will hear this and that is wrong with the comp this year, but to be fair covid prevented anything else so it is what it is.
I kond of struggling to decide who I really want to win. I like most people have a soft spot for the Clan, love the way they play, really seem to generally have a very well thought out game plan and players buy into it, so great to watch.
I like how the Blues have come on in the last couple of years, have some bloody good players, and seemingly learning to play a quite intelligent style, ( helped by using young Zarn at 15) so if their loosies can get on top of Clan's, will be fun to watch!

@crazy-horse well they did win a game or two. So that doesn't stand.

I think it does. @shark may have not used the word 'farse', but the jist of the post I was referring to was questioning the point of a competition that was going to end up with two NZ finalists anyway. A sentiment that appeared to be shared by quite a few, especially when it became apparent unbeaten teams were probably going to miss the final.

@crazy-horse The point is to see which team is the best at flogging reserve grade sides. Guess it's probably the Blues.

And even then it came down to the last few minutes in the last game - sometimes that goes our way, sometimes it doesn't, and if we were better, we'd have won by more and not left it to the last minute. Points differential has a lot more pedigree as a tiebreaker than boundaries... Congrats to the Highlanders and Blues (totally agree that they put in the performances), and we'll just have to do better next time.

What’s this crap talk about the winner of this farce of a comp playing the northern hemispheres top team? If the trans Ta$man comp had involved everyone playing each other sure but it didn't. The winner of the strongest competition played in the Southern Hemisphere is the only choice and the strongest comp where all the teams actually played each other was Super Rugby Aotearoa.

Chiefs fans take. I didn't feel anywhere near the same amount of hype for this comp as I did SRA. Knowing that the games could go either way and we were playing each other and I knew all the players got me so excited for the games. The players were also excited to play in the games which helps. Probably helped that the Chiefs did well in SRA.

This was as obvious as night follows day.

NZ Rugby and Rugby Australia had previously indicated that agreement on the future of Super Rugby could be reached by late June, but that is now an optimistic deadline after Rugby Australia chairman Hamish McLennan told Stuff that significant differences remain.

There is no agreement on how the rights and revenue for the competition are to be shared, what the competition looks like, and whether Moana Pasifika and Fijian Drua can stand up over the longer-term, while talks have left Rugby Australia feeling undervalued – despite their recognition that the Australian sides need to improve.

“Trans Ta$man currently feels pretty imbalanced,” McLennan said. “We’re not changing our five teams so we need to work out an equitable attribution to running the competition. New Zealand’s [TV] ratings went up during Trans Ta$man, whilst ours went down.”

@kiwimurph The great irony is neither country can afford to go it alone.

edit- Unless NZ can sell a 10 team "professional NPC" to OS markets at a profit.

                                          @kiwimurph From that article:

Rugby Australia is thought be looking at a conference model for Super Rugby Trans Ta$man, in which Moana Pasifika will join the New Zealand side of the draw and the Fijian Drua are in the Australian side – if the new franchises stack up.

The winners from each conference would then face each other in the final, guaranteeing that one side from the Australian conference would be in the final.

They can f*ck right off. There should be semi-finals between the top 4 teams regardless of conference. Winners of SFs play the Final.
