I thought NZR needed money? 🙂

Seriously tho it is a bit of an ask for locals to turn up two weeks in a row for the same opponent with likely the same outcome. I recall someone saying here that the cheapest seats were $80 which is poor form if you want to sell the joint out - particularly with travel restrictions.

There's no travel restrictions in NZ, or do you mean international visitors coming to the game? But yeah that's the point, tickets are over priced and the food/drink even more so

I can see this weekend's crowd being very small.

Realistically how many people will be taking up this offer?

@kiwimurph just went to buy tickets and a lot are already gone. Anything on the sides is $140 to $225 EACH.

Terraces are cheaper but that’s a terrible view.

The West stand is OK. I was sitting there for some of the 2011 RWC games. A different perspective to watch end on.

I can understand why NZR haven't reduced the prices because those that had already bought tickets to Bled 1 could rightly complain.

Maybe a half-price deal for fans that went on Sat to attract more people is a good option.

I've tried it out in various games when bringing the kids along (daughter is not interested at all in rugby only goes to get the burger and chips, has been known to sleep and wear earmuffs...). I just don't like being end on

North and South stand at Eden Park are good. Food and drink options are not, which sucks for a 7:05pm game.

Quite a few big stadiums have poor options - Stade de France only has alcohol-free Stella, IIRC!

I don't go to Eden Park for the food and beer. In fact, I can't remember the last time I bought something there. Our group would always meet at a nearby pub to drink and eat before the match. A bit different with kids in tow.

I paid $100 for seats on halfway in the lower WEL Network side for the NZ-Fiji test in Hamilton. That's where our Chiefs seats are.

I prefer to watch end on if going live then rewatching with the side on view on TV when I get home.
But then I like watching the backline manipulations and spotting gaps etc

Same. I've been in upper West for 15 years, and it's great. Elevated, end on. The only place is consider shifting to is the 50 yard line.

Earl Kirton as a selector famously watched all his games end on. You can see who's working and who's shirking.

Not at least until vaccination rates reduce hospitalisations effectively.

Are people in NSW adhering to their lockdown? How hard are you guys locked down? Seems like the virus is well and truly off and running

WTF? That just makes someone a wife beater with no excuse.

It's pleasing the players are making the right noises

“We had a plan around how we wanted to exit and get our forwards in the game early,” Smith told The Breakdown on Sky on Monday evening.

“But there was just so many opportunities. We fell into that trap of, ‘we could go on here, it’s hot here, we could do this’.

“But, we should have really got our forwards into the game, getting our loose forwards carrying early, cleaning rucks fast.

“And as you saw the first plays after halftime were direct, at them, we’re coming.

“That sets our game up. Our game drivers won’t do that again.”

“We’re taught to play what’s in front of us, and we tried that, but we were just trying a bit too much,” said Papalii when asked about the messy start. “We need to stick to our basics and our system, which we went away from, and as you see when we roll our sleeves up and get direct we can do some damage.

“But we’ve got to stick to that and trust our game-drivers.”

@kiwimurph just went to buy tickets and a lot are already gone. Anything on the sides is $140 to $225 EACH.

Terraces are cheaper but that’s a terrible view.

Hard to see that business model being sustainable.

It seems the cost of running a live event at EP is close to uneconomic, if those are the prices needed to make a return.

Or they are marking a killing on the few events per year they are allowed.

Maybe the price could drop with more events?
