The other thing is whether the Chiefs are going to appoint a new forwards coach to replace Barnes. That would be my preference rather than promoting Nick White (current scrum coach), as that wasn't a success the last time.

Maybe Stuff will also publish an article about the likely Chiefs squad before Monday.

By my count the only positions that may need to be filled are:
          5th lock - I would re-sign Laghlan McWhannell if he is off-contract
2 loose forwards - options would be Karpik, Parker, Florence and M Jacobson (it might only be Boshier's replacement so one of the latter two)
3rd halfback - has to be Cortez Ratima
4th Midfielder - no Walden now to replace Sullivan, Wrampling is the obvious choice
6th outside back - the elusive power winger

@yeetyaah It would be great if Jacobson was rewarded with a contract. I've said my piece about Karpik at SR level.

At this point, we’ll the have the 3rd to 5th best NZ squad in the comp (good set of locks), so I don’t have a lot of hope for us. Perhaps a plucky win over the Blues or Saders would be a highlight, but I doubt either of those.

@gt12 6 ABs in your pack plus an AB halfback and midfield. With the Blues losing three locks and Faiane, you should finish 2nd.

@gt12 Christ mate where's the faith? Thought the same at the start of this year but Donk worked his magic. Plus Seanys passing might give the boys some massive motivation, they'll wanna win it in his memory.

Outside backs have been pretty weak the past few seasons narawa is a good addition we need another strike weapon out wide

11, 14 and 15 are probably the only positions where you can't say for certain who McMillan will select in his best XV. The rest of the backline is predictable.

@cliff scrap the Moses Leo rumour, has been asked by NZ sevens to stay in their programme which also means he will be staying with harbour

@steven-harris Why would Leo have to stay with NH? Most of those sevens players end up playing for BOP if they are based there.

I was hoping they would go for Regan Ware. Dawai has limited confidence under high ball but is an imposing figure
