@bobily2 I saw that too. The Chiefs player profiles are consistent in their typos.

And to reinforce my comment above there is now a new player listed in the inside backs. I won't mention the obvious joke. 🙂

@crucial I am expecting Slater will be ahead of Thompson in the hooker pecking order. That decision might be dependent on pre-season form.

Trask over Reihana too, on goal kicking alone. I like Rivez but he isn't the most consistent there.

@bovidae and he had a poor season too, probably lucky he was already on the Chiefs book!

I think he has alot of potential, but his game went backwards this year.

That would make hitting the back of the lineout incredibly easy. Just lean over and hand the ball to them...

You're assuming proportional arms. If they're regular-sized it might be a lot more difficult (though having both Retallick and Lord will be advantageous if the ball just drops somewhere from the sky)

Probably the best place to put it. ABs official Instagram says "See you in a few months." Maybe he's signed a contract with NZR again?

@bovidae dudes for a bright future hopefully. Having him and Roe there will I think bring out the best in each other as they'll be competing directly for the bench spot.

Roe and Ratima are very different types of halfback, and both offer something different to Weber.

I note that McMillan also made the TKB comparison when talking about Ratima. TKB is much bigger though.

@bovidae like taller? Ratima is pretty built for a little fella. You're right about them being different though. Was Roe injured for the entire NPC?

Tawera is listed as 1.87 m and 89 kg - tall and heavy for a modern-day halfback. That seems accurate to me.

Roe got injured from a tackle at the kickoff against Hawke's Bay. He eventually went off with an elbow injury wasn't available after that.

Ratima needs to tackle lower from what I have seen. Lots of promise and skills but some work ons tactically. Will be great to see him developing.

There should be an extra stat on match reports: no. of tacklers left on the ground trying to tackle him... Samisoni would leap to the top.

It’s a competitive market out there and you can’t really sit on your hands and just expect that people that may have had a pathway through your development programmes are still going to be there when it comes to signing players,” McMillan said.

reading this article it seems likely Jarrad Hoeata is the Chiefs new forwards coach replacing Barnes.

@kiwi_expat It's possible, but I just read it as Hoeata and Randle being his assistants when coaching the NZ Barbarians.

Well Hoeata was assistant coach at Taranaki this year under Barnes so Barnes knows him very well and Taranaki had an undefeated season. Feels pretty fast tracked but that's modern coaching.

Hoeata was also the forwards coach for the Chiefs U20s.

I wouldn't read too much into who is coaching the Baabaas, as they were replacements for the Auckland-based coaches.

If you were picking someone from within the Chiefs you could just as easily choose Ross Filipo.
