Being only 5 wickets down is a bit disappointing, suggests the batters were a bit too cautious. Could have a least sent Bracewell up the order to try a fluke a few boundaries.

I know this is essentially our A team but the selections are all wrong. Blundell shouldn't be opening and we shouldn't be playing three seamers (not much choice but could at have picked Kuggeleijn who can hold a bat).

@labcat Based on earlier posts about 100 being a good score in Bangladesh, I don't know that we can really conclude that the selections were all wrong or anything else about the game plan. Maybe Bangladesh are just hard at home, and we don't have our best team available, so we lost.

          Not bad.

Although that might be our best game of the series.

          Fielding sloppy, though.

Much better pitch. But, even so, too much seam. Need minimum 3 and a half spinners. But hands are tied now.

Surely Kuggeleijn plays next time. Weird use of Sears. Need a boundary hitter firing in top order too. Maybe Finn Allen comes in.

Bring Allen in for one of the seamers. Time for CDG to step up with the ball (and with the bat and in the field, for that matter).

Blundell is not an opener in T20, Worker (one of the top scores in Super Smash who also bowls part time spin) would have been a batter choice.

Yes Bangladesh are hard at home, but that is where good squad selection is important. You don't send 6 (7 including Henry) seamers to Bangladesh, both Sommerville and Rippon would outperform any of the seamers that are currently over there.

Dont think Rippon is available yet, he returned one winter to Saffaland for "too long". Should be later this year that his revised 3 years time is served.

Is he? Really? In what way? T20 is supposed to be a flat track sport.

                        Seems fairly consistent to me.

When the conditions favour him he can be great. But when it comes time to tough it out, Colin often seems to be found wanting. Of course it is an eyeball observation that may be totally disproved by his match stats

T20 strikes me as a format where toughing it out is not nearly as commonly required as hitting out.

Obviously it happens, but not nearly as often as chasing 180+.

Agreed. But they got a look at conditions in game 1. Not like it was a surprise in G2

In no version of the sport is Colin ever selected to tough it out with the bat.

On a slow wicket, against quality spinners, with a big boundary - he'll be less effective than normal. Hes an orthodox batsman who hits in the air to orthodox areas of the ground, rather than a gapper. So, unless he comes off, he'll be caught in deep.

I'm no T20 guru, not interested enough. But to be getting franchise T20 contracts all round the world one can assume there is a moneyball type metric that shows a guy who can either hit out or get out from ball one(ish) batting down at 5, 6, 7 is pretty valuable.

His casual demeanor will always frustrate when it doesn't come off, though.

He is not a T20 bowler though, let's get that out of our heads. Probably averages 1 over match through his franchise career.

Bring Allen in for one of the seamers. Time for CDG to step up with the ball (and with the bat and in the field, for that matter).

Colin has been poor. The consummate flat track bully

Is he?

CDGH ( and the lack of any spinner who is actually international class ) are glaring weaknesses in our team compared to others. Luckily we’re strong everywhere else which is why we’re ranked so high.

                                      I can live with that.
