I'm going to watch a special of him tonight because I'm in the don't really find him funny camp too, but I tend to like every comedian talked him up after his death so maybe I need to see a whole show of his rather than clips on Youtube.

But - no , seriously - I was never a fan. But gave it a concerted effort - and once you kinda realise what he's doing, it becomes funnier.
I'd hate for anybody's first view of him to be that Bob Saget roast... where it seemed to be a long-running bit of deliberately making unfunny "roast jokes". -

So deliberately bombed the set.

Yeah - I assumed there was some story like that behind it. Didn't bother researching the details.
