@stargazer A Championship level NPC team coached by a couple of one-season NH rejects. Manawatu could deal with them. Will be a sad story if the Waratahs can't win that game.

With less than one month until the start of Super Rugby 2018, one thing is for sure - this is going to be the most exciting and effective sports marketing campaign ever. I am so hyped by what hasn't been aired yet.
Combined with the legendary competence of SANZA, the four mid-season AB training camps, and great franchise systems in Sydney and Auckland, the future of TV revenue for this competition has never been brighter.

I'll be glued to every game. @bones will vouch for that....

Is the "Richard Judd" listed in the reserves the halfback from BOP ?
@snollygoster Yes it is.
-
@tim not that i've seen. They did a bit for the sevens. But i've seen no Super rugby promo. Maybe they are trying to forget it exists until they can see if there is an Aussie team with a bit of hope?

Hurricanes team: Trent Renata, Jonah Lowe, Matt Proctor, Peter Umaga-Jensen, Ben Lam, Jackson Garden-Bachop, Jamie Booth, Gareth Evans, Brayden Iose, Brad Shields, James Blackwell, Sam Lousi, Alex Fidow, Ricky Riccitelli, Toby Smith. Reserves: James O'Rielly, Chris Eves, Tolu Fahamokioa, Ben May, Murray Douglas, Will Mangos, Liam Mitchell, Sam Henwood, Finlay Christie, Carlos Price, Ihaia West, Wes Goosen, Jason Emery, Vince Aso, Julian Savea, Chase Tiatia, Fraser Armstrong.

Can't wait for Umaga to select some kind of b-team for the opening game and lose to a team he should put 20 on.

Crusaders squad to take on the Hurricanes in their first pre-season game in Greymouth on Friday:
15 George Bridge, 14 Manasa Mataele, 13 Braydon Ennor, 12 Tim Bateman (captain), 11 Jone Macilai, 10 Mike Delany, 9 Bryn Hall,
8 Pete Samu, 7 Billy Harmon, 6 Ethan Blackadder, 5 Quinten Strange, 4 Hamish Dalzell, 3 Mike Alaalatoa, 2 Ben Funnell, 1 Ezekiel Lindenmuth.Reserves: Harrison Allan, Andrew Makalio, Reuben O'Neill, Ben Morris, Will Tucker, Heiden Bedwell-Curtis, Tom Christie, Jordan Manihera, Jack Stratton, Brett Cameron, Tima Faingaanuku, Nathan Vella, Dylan Nel, Richard Judd, Dallas McLeod, Tomas Aoake.
About Kieran Read:
Scott Robertson doesn't expect to have Kieran Read back in his playing kit until April 21, but the picture he paints about the All Black captain's recovery from back surgery is hardly full of gloomy colours. In mid-December Read, who turned 32 in November, required an operation on a prolapsed lumbar disc following an injury he suffered on the All Blacks' northern tour late last year; once again Crusaders coach Robertson, as he had to last year when No 8 Read made a delayed return to Super Rugby following wrist surgery, was forced to reassess his back row options. He has a number of candidates to choose from, starting with Pete Samu, who will start at No 8 in the pre-season opener against the Hurricanes in Greymouth on Friday evening, and also Jordan Taufua. Read, though, is the big-ticket item. And when he finally makes his comeback - projected to be the round 10 match against the Sunwolves in Christchurch on April 21 - you can bet the sports bulletins will be leading with this angle.That game against the Sunwolves could also mark the return of All Blacks props Owen Franks and Joe Moody and fullback/wing Israel Dagg, all who were sidelined with serious injuries last year.@stargazer said in Super Rugby News:

Bryn Hall probably the only player who would make the Crusaders best XV.

@tim it's only the waratahs so they decided to have a Josh off. You getting comfy at the bottom of that table?

Liam Mitchell - Is this the guy that plays up in the Manawatu? Interesting to see a number of Mitre10 Cup players involved as well as a couple of BoP players on the 17 man bench. The wage bill, and other associated expenses, for this time of year must be astronomical.

@bones When you see a starting line-up that features Murphy Taramai, Jimmy Tupou, Glenn Preston, Matt Moulds, and Josh Goodhue, I'm sure you'll be shaking in your boots.
