Wow! That was truly special. What a moment. Incredible innings, plenty of luck but a perfect summation of his career.

Love it when a bloke goes out on a high like this.

BMac - what a way to finish your test career! Nothing wrong with his eye, shame his back his buggered or he'd have a year or two left in him yet.

Awesome stuff though, one of crickets's most destructive players when its his day. We'll miss him as a player and a bloke.

Anderson says to hell with blocking out Lyon, I'll just wait for the bad ball and smack the shit out of it.

              What the actual fuck?

Last time I checked in - maybe an hour ago, Herb had just faced his first ball, and we were up to our eyeballs in canary yellow poo at 60-70 odd for 4.

Baz you're insane.

Pattinson sounds like he's forgotten what wicket taking looks like - beyond the stupid fucking childish no-ball situation, his line and length just isn't Test quality.

In the first test we cried that NZ batsmen didn't respect their wickets, weren't patient enough, played at too many balls they should have left.

Williamson, Latham and Nicholls obviously take note of this, and try and grind through a tough period. They play the classical, gritty innings that we were all craving in the first test, and all lose their wickets to decent balls and great catches on a seaming deck.

Then McCullum comes in and throws all of this out the window, swinging like a dunny door. Gets a few lucky edges, catch off a no-ball and he's away. Against all advice or technique, he has gone a long way to winning the game for the Black Caps.

McCullum played that fantastic innings because that is the only way he can play. He could have been out 2nd ball or the ball before lunch or the no-ball. He wasn't out and he took advantage. If McCullum had tried to grind it wouldn't have worked because McCullum doesn't have a defensive game anymore. Williamson and Latham are both proper cricketers who should be aiming to build innings because they have the techniques to do it. If Kane went for a golden duck then McCullum comes out earlier when the ball is doing more and maybe gets a duck himself.
