Source: Cricinfo.That's not total pants for an opener against anyone except SA - and pretty poor vs Oz, but I'm guessing he's no orphan there. I'm happy enough with his record against England, India and Pakistan and one of my frustrations with plenty of NZ batsmen is their failure to cash in against the minnows - which Tom has done in spades.

What really sucks is the dread as a fan that we’re essentially potentially half a session away from a crushing defeat if things turn to shit early.

But yeah, as someone on here mentioned the inconsistency is staggering. We COULD NOT have fucked them up more in the first test….and look what’s happening now ???
Goes to show what an achievement the test championship was. We won't be able to maintain that level of consistency this cycle

Absolutely. Losing Rossco and KW and some other players showing more indifferent form than they should will probably ensure that.
Without those two our batting lineup isn’t a hell of a lot better than SA’s ( given Conway just hasn’t played enough to judge just yet )

I would be surprised if we get through tomorrow from what I saw, ultimately we still have Conway at the crease and while there you would imagine a draw still possible. We will need Blundell to change his name to Watling though

Was crucial for our openers to put a good partnership together to set up a decent platform for the rest of the top order... now Conway & Blundell have to try & bat all the way through the morning session at least, then rely on other partnerships too for us to sneak out of this one with a draw.
