I have no idea. I wasn't familiar with Tamani until he was brought into the Waikato squad during the NPC. @OleOleOle or @ploughboy might be able to answer that question.

Nine seasons ago he was playing club footy in Wairarapa Bush.
The stats Ive found have him at 35. Seems a stupid signing to bring a 35-year-old journeyman down!

@macmanus OK. Tamani doesn't play like a 35-yr old. BTW, the no.6 in that photo is Adam Thomson, who's 40.

Also strange Otago and the Highlanders are reading from different books with Gilbert and Koroi being seen by the Highlanders as 10s, while they are outside backs for Otago.

@SouthernMann Yes, Thomson is the co-coach of Hamilton Old Boys and has often started, or been on the bench most weeks. I assume they have been short of players.

How do they expect to get through the season with just five loose forwards named to cover three positions and, more spectacularly so, four outside backs to cover three positions?

I'd think the likes of Haig and Stodart will get some time in the loose. While Te Hiwi and Timu can cover the wings, while Asi, Faleafaga and Hurley can all play in the back three.

@SouthernMann if we're already saying the development team will have to play then i really feel weve stuffed up the balance of the squad, its what we saw with the highlanders

i assume our jersey will be along these lines, reversible training jersey is a cool idea...collar looks rough though

Still don't rate Millar Otago: Sam Gilbert (co-captain), Vilimoni Koroi, Josh Timu, Thomas Umaga-Jensen, Jona Nareki, Cameron Millar, Kemara Hauiti-Parapara, Rupeni Tamani, Sean Withy (co-captain), Oliver Haig, Will Tucker, Fabian Holland, Saula Ma’u, Henry Bell, Abraham Pole. Reserves: Harry Press, Tau Koloamatangi, Josh Hohneck, Will Stodart, Taylor Dale, Jin Ho Mun, Raymond Nu’u, Jake Te Hiwi, Rohan Wingham, Leroy Ferguson, Finn Hurley, Jeremiah Asi, Jack Leslie.
