How good was Max? He might be a bit of a dick (who of those top GOATs wasn't?) but he is on another level compared to the rest of the field. From pit lane to 3rd? Some feat

New engine and superb strategy sorted him. Willingness to ditch the hard tyres during the safety car too was superb.

I think at the end I would have left him out. He woujd have been difficult to pass and Norris tyres would be past the sweet spot when he caught him. Think he def would have held Antonelli off.

Lawson did 52 laps on his mediums. His engineer called him the "NZ Minister of Defence"

Is a seat about to become available at McLaren?

The Aussie led the F1 drivers' standings for most of the season before an awful run of form saw him fall behind his teammate Lando Norris.

“ McLaren prefers the English driver Norris.

'He has more star quality and marketing appeal for them, has more camera presence and publicity. That's probably why he's better for McLaren.'

    Um, seems about right.

Piastri is pretty damn boring. Nothing wrong with that for driving / winning, but the other traits do make Lando much more marketable.

As for favouring … I remember McLaren telling Norris to give places back on more than one occasion.

But now, they want the winner, no question, and Lando is within touching distance. Seems fair.

If they decide to dump him then maybe a straight swap for whoever they bring in if it is from another F1 Team. McLaren do have a couple of highly rated junior drivers in their stable that they are closely mentoring so they might promote one of them if Piastri gets the archer.

This is why I like him, I find it one of the funniest things to watch how flat and devoid of human emotion he is. Also fun making sure he doesn't exceed his regulation 2 mild smiles a year.

And also what makes it hard for me to buy he's so incensed and provoked to action that he would genuinely have a go at his team in such a public and erratic manner.

Oscar is a good driver. If he left McLaren I'm not sure he'll be as productive as he's been this year with the best car in the field

The F1 authorities are doing their best to hand the title to the Dutchman again: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/articles/cr7l5v2exv0o

@sparky McLaren have no one to blame but themselves. Skid block wear beyond limits is always a disqualification.

Lawson had a very good quali again, earning P6. He got into a tangle on turn 1 unfortunately, and that ruined his race. His starts need some work, sometimes his decison making isn't good. Once he can consistently start cleanly he will level up
