I assume that Miller cant be back to full fitness yet after her knee op. No sign of her in the Cantabs.
That Waikato team is very strong where it counts (front row, halves and fullback) with plenty of quality around that. Hard to see them not being around at the end.
I'm following BoP this year and they have the bye first round. First game is against the Poo (who have a very tough first game for newcomers from the Championship. Talk about diving in at the deep end)

Waikato bt 'Poo as expected but the score wasn't a blow out.

                    33-24

Canterbury smashed Wellington 43-5 denting the pride of the pride who have been talked up a little this year.

Auckland currently 22-8 ahead of CM close to halftime

I watched the game on and off. Waikato started well but made a lot of handling errors, forced passes and had a misfiring lineout. Manawatu led 18-5 at HT. Waikato was much more direct in the 2nd half and used their big props to rumble over. The commentators said Wayne Smith was there and gave two-try scorer Awhina Tangen-Wainohu a pat on the back when she left the field late. She could be a bolter for the BFs. The Poo are a good team.

@Bovidae thanks for the report. I might watch a replay.
I will probably go up to Palmy next weekend to watch the BOP game so it sounds like it will be a tough one.

Another Hawke's Bay product that got away.

Canterbury look like they don’t really need her but Jorja Miller seems to be up at the Mount with the Sevens squad. Saw her in a photo with Steven Adams there today.

@Crucial Yeah, I saw that photo, too. No obvious signs of injuries, either, although she could still be on limited training.
