    @Winger

If I had to pick a 23 on form right now it would probably look something like this:

Update: I’ve decided to split this into a First XV and Second XV to show our depth.

    1st 15:

    1. Numia
    2. Aumua
    3. Lomax
    4. Sangster
    5. Walker-Leawere
    6. Delany
    7. Savea (c)
    8. Lakai
    9. Roigard
    10. Morgan
    11. Rayasi
    12. Barrett
    13. Umaga-Jensen
    14. Sullivan
    15. Moorby

    2nd 15:

    1. Rakete-Stones
    2. Coles
    3. Mafileo
    4. Blackwell
    5. Bird
    6. Howden
    7. Gibson
    8. Flanders
    9. Perenara
    10. Cameron
    11. Patafilo
    12. Higgins
    13. Proctor
    14. Savea
    15. Love

@Canes4life like both those 15s. Good back up in a lot of positions.

Now can you do the team Holland will pick? Haha.

if fit 5 starters not in the first team will be almost certain

Perenara, Proctor, Blackwell, Savea and Prinsep.

@Winger At least we don’t have to include JGB in that list.

Interesting read on the state of Manawatu rugby.
Most of their young talent look to be shifting elsewhere. Good to see Bason locked up, between him and Tuputupu they have a couple of sound hookers going forward.

The Hurricanes U20s have been dominated by Manawatū players in recent seasons but not all stay there. You've got the Love brothers and Leo Gordon from PNBHS who moved away too.

Ben Strang is another young hooker with promise.

The Magpies relatively good recent years was based on retaining homegrown players - obviously didn't help them in having a presence in the Canes though (to keep it on thread topic).

I see Christian Cullen's son Cole is boarding at PNBHS. Will be intersting to see how he goes as he moves towards those senior years of High School.

Good news indeed. Now we need Lakai and also Barrett. Then I will be happy with the key players that have already signed

Although after having a superb game vs Waikato he was a bit quiet I thought against CM

Tis a bit odd no announcement re: Barrett yet but I'm sure he'll be locked up. Hopefully for a few years it would be a bit of a shame if it was a 1 year deal again.

Hopefully we give Lakai a 5 year Proctor contract. Shit - make it 10 years.

I'd say we would have heard rumours by now if Barrett was looking elsewhere. We are stacked in the midfield if Umaga-Jensen signs on aswell. We will end up with Barrett, Higgins, Umaga-Jensen, Sullivan and Proctor which ain't bad at all. We will need to make some key signings in the backfield if Barrett decides to make the permanent shift to 12.

We've got Love and Moorby who are more than capable at fullback, it's more the wings that I'm worried about. So far we have Patafilo, Rayasi, Savea and with Goosen gone, we probably need to sign 2 or 3 more wings.

Would be nice if we can get him or one of those Blues wingers. Maybe AJ Lam could replicate his brother and make the shift down.

These are the Hurricanes Under 18 teams that will go toe to toe against a Fiji side in Taupo tomorrow.

The Savea XV looks stronger to me: that front row looks bloody good.

Aside from Ardie, he's our most important player so it's good to sign him for the next three seasons. It will be interesting to see if the Canes continue his run in the 12 jersey...
