Happy with that team and the continuity. Only surprise for me is Leicester starting over Will Jordan - not that LF didn't have a good game, but Jordan is something else as a player. As someone mentioned, lineouts will be key without SW and Taylor's throwing will be critical - did well last week.

Fakatava will be different threat coming on later in the game particularly if Ireland are tiring. Ditto Jordan.

Wonder if we'll see some different tactics this week, esp. at the start where Ireland will want to put down a marker, to get them on the back foot or frustrate them.

think the loosies later in the year will be Cane, Savea plus Dalton/Akira. Who starts and who is on the bench out of the Blues loosies will change depending on tactics/opposition

Add in PGS & Hoskins and the likes of Callum Grace & Jacobson in the wings and we seem to be blessed at 6/7/8 at the moment.

          Blackadder Jr. as well.

I reckon we're loaded with 7s and loaded with bench utilities and guys who are great rugby players.

We're a bit light on monsters like Jerome Kaino and Big Pieter-Steph.

Yeah, I doubt there will be new caps in the loosies until after the RWC

The next year or so will be getting Tests into who they already have and testing different cover options

I think they'll have in their minds that they want to take PGS to the rwc but not give other teams too much footage to analyse. If his best SR from could be brought to test rugby he could be a great point of difference.

I doubt there’s much difference in size between peak Kaino and Akira and PGS.

@ACT-Crusader PGS looks to me that he's getting pretty close.

I think Akira probably gives away a few cms and kgs. But, he's big enough to meet my prescription at 6.

I think Fozzie and Team ABs are pretty shocked about the disregard of concussion protocols in the Ireland camp. That's one area the ABs have been ahead of the game for a long time. Player's pass HIAs but don't return anyway, giving them extra weeks etc.

I think most pro players now are trained in the jackal and you will often see backs getting just as many jackals as the 7 now. I don't have the stats, but it wouldn't surprise me that it is shared around more than it once was.

I think what is changing is it can be a bit risky going full on for the jackal when it's not on, we saw a lot of players being penalised for hands in front, not releasing and not supporting weight and of course you lose a player on D. Kirifi springs to mind as someone who was a little overzealous and often got pinged more than most.

I do like the recent move towards counter rucking and moving past the ball, it seems like a better percentage play as you are less likely to get penalised.

I think a 7's role has changed slightly that they should be very dominant in the tackle area and need to protect the 10 in that close channel which is Canes core strength. They should also be good with ball in hand to make those post contact metres which is where Paps shines. Yes, they should try to jackal but they are so much more than that these days.

Counter rucking also requires more bodies to do. Jackaling allows the defending team simply to stick one defender into the ruck to compete for the ball. Counter rucking however requires multiple bodies from the defending team, and usually brings more from the attacking team as they try to counter-counter ruck to secure their ball. All this serves to create more space on the field so that the team that wins the ball has space to attack with.

@junior and good counter rucking where you often push well past the ruck zone taking opposition with you helps too, but has to be done properly to avoid pens, the Blues did it well most of the season.

Like the team pretty much , however we need to find a balanced loose forward combination. Think Kaino, Reid, McCaw, Buck, Jones, Whetton

think the loosies later in the year will be Cane, Savea plus Dalton/Akira.
