The definition of Christmas movie seems pretty loose sometimes. There's an extended sequence of The Godfather that is set at Xmas, and has Xmas music, so does that count? If so that's my number one.

Good call. Especially cos there seems to be so many articles lately explaining how offensive and wrong it is. Bill Nighy is class.

Love Actually is an OK movie with an outstanding cast. Upvote for Bill Nighy. There’s a guy I’d like to have a drink with.

people missing the point of that movies that those are "real" if exaggerated relationships, people cheat, people become infatuated with people theyve barely talked too etc...not everyone has a perfect text book "healthy" relationship

    The case against Love Actually

    The case against Love Actually

Nothing about the beloved Christmas rom-com comes off as romantic — at least, not in a way that doesn’t feel cheap.

    This writer wasn’t too impressed.

Almost anything by Shane Black set at Christmas:

    • Lethal Weapon
    • Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
    • Long Kiss Goodnight
    • The Nice Guys
    • Iron Man 3

<engaging film buff piston wristed gibbon mode> I think that the 1961 movie about a bank heist "Cash On Demand" is my favourite xmas movie though - the story, acting, and atomsphere generated is all great. This is not just a xmas movie since it is set at that time of the year, it is effectively a retelling of A Christmas Carol, without any ghosts and ##spoiler the demption arc of Peter Cushing as the Scrooge equivalent is perfectly executed

    ##endspoiler

I do agree with an earlier poster about Muppet Christmas Carol though. Being serious here, Michael Caine gives his finest acting performance ever in this film - top notch.

Very underrated. Gina Davis looking HAF and SLJ at his wise cracking best.

Stretching the “Xmas movie” pre requisite a bit though…..

“Father Christmas is Back” looks like a worthy contender. Wind hands down if you get points for having Liz Hurley in your cast.

Mrs M insists on watching it every Christmas.

Every time we watch it at Christmas, I insist on pointing out the Emma Thompson character doesn't understand men and is acting unreasonably.
