Thames Valley are entering a Colts team in the Waikato comp calling themselves Rugby United, based in Paeroa and Waihi.

Hauraki North will enter a Women's team in the Waikato women's competition.

The funny thing is that three Tupaea brothers play in the Waikato club competition, but for different teams. I wonder if Quinn has been trying to get Mason to play for HOB now. Their starting LH prop has been Rob Cobb.

@Bovidae surely he would. Robb Cobb is pretty average, struggles at times from club games I’ve watched and struggles at npc level.

@mikedogz Wow I very much like that, would love to see more of it. I believe in Wales they have a similar thing, where lower grade teams meet higher level similar to FA cup. I really keen on anything that gets a bit new life into clubs etc.

Any new women's teams popped up? Pukekohe in Counties have restarted their team after a long break. They have a couple of Counties players signed up so will start strong. My home district club Onewhero were talking about getting a team together but haven't heard much lately.

Hauraki North to enter the Waikato comp.

Counties are restarting the U19 Grade. My home district club is part of a combined team called Te Marawhero ( Te Kauwhata, Maramarua,, Onewhero) that is being set up for it. The two closest schools Tuakau and Onewhero won last years first XV comp with a combined team so they should get some good players. Te Marawhero is usually a rep team for the end of the season they sometimes get together.

Hamilton Marist Premier men's team win the Spillane Cup!
Hamilton Marist last won the Spillane Cup 23 years ago.
After defeating MSP yesterday, the team then went on to beat Napier Marist in a hard fought battle 25-12.
Great tourney, played in good spirit, thanks to NZ Marist for hosting. Well done to all who contributed for the weekend.
A massive shout out to Napier who committed to the tourney under difficult circumstances, kia kaha to the Napier Marist club and their community.

@mikedogz - There was a similar Auckland-wide knock-out competition like this about a decade ago. Not sure why they canned it but it’s good to see it back.

@mikedogz - that’s a thumping even for a weakened reserve team from Manukau. Clearly no depth at Manukau but It has never been a big club like the richer Central Auckland clubs.
