One of the first good decisions stead has made

Well, he did drop KW as captain which seems to have worked from a batting perspective

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I don't recall anyone questioning Chapman's exclusion from the ODI team prior to this tour. I do recall some people wondering why he keeps getting selected however.

    Guilty as charged

Me too. But to be fair he deserved the scepticism based on his play

Well done Chapman and Neesham and although he didn't play today, I think Matt Henry deserves a mention too for another one who has really stood up as a senior bowler when no one was really expecting it.

Best part about this is that it is in the sub continent.

I just read that myself. Sensible decision in the end, and they didn't end up having to drop someone else from the tour to do it.

Yeah the right thing to do,It is great they were flexible enough to do it.

Wow! I am totally surprised that they kept him on tour, right after I said they weren't flexible enough to do that.

Very happy to be proven wrong!

Yeah good move in the end, he deserves to be in that ODI squad.

@Duluth and another loss. Mitchell and Latham played really well, but it looks like all the bowlers lacked penetration and couldn't keep the run rate down.

Chasing 336 and getting there with 10 balls to spare ... ouch

    https://www.espncricinfo.com/records/series/averages-batting-bowling-by-team/new-zealand-in-pakistan-odi-series-2023-15058?team=5

    Series stats:

Mitch, Latham and Young end up with decent series. Bowes and Blundell (presumably shared an opening spot) a bit meh. Nicholls and Neesham didn't do much and Chapman fell away after his excellent T20 series.

With the ball, Matt Henry reinforcing his place in the first choice team. Milne went well. Others get progressively worse and shouldn't threaten our first choices.

For those who didn't watch game 5 (like me) the team wore black armbands for this:
