Jordie Barrett finally moving to 12 could potentially be the winning of this World Cup. The options he offers our attack and his defence will be the difference in the big games.

All blacks should be doing a 6-2 split on the bench with all the versatility in the backline of everyone playing heaps of positions. Just one normal back to cover injuries and a lot of short hard impacts in the forwards

Something that was obvious to some of us years ago....

The naysayers also saw his poor super season as further proof of his lack of suitability in the position. I pointed to the fact that the canes never deployed him in a conventional 10-12-13 axis, preferring to have forwards running in the backline

Yeah I just ignored that shit. There are countless examples of established ABs phoning it in at Super level before things go up a notch in black. Another 12, Nonu is probably the very best example of that.

What a friggen hiding, awesome start to the season. Stoked to see that backline go so well, DMac-Jordie-Rieko with Beauden organising things from the back is seriously threatening if the forwards get any sort of parity. They will only get better with more time together. The wailing and gnashing of teeth over Beauden's selection at 15 was OTT, as expected, he's still world class at the back and his experience will be crucial at the RWC.

Mo'unga should be able to slot into that formation as well, but he needs to be taking the ball at first receiver more than he has in the past the same way DMac does. Our 10 has to be directing play at test level, not always looking for mis-matches out wide that generally don't exist.

We definitely got some momentum on the EOYT, so great to see us continue to build on that. An in form DMac adds a lot to the team as well, whether at 10, 15 or the bench.

The weekends results set up an absolute cracker of a test against SA - bring it on!

Mmm.. would love to see Jordan at the back rather than BB. He would provide everything BB has at this stage but with the knack of getting the bounce of the ball that BB had 5 years ago. Clarke played OK but LF or Telea offer so much more.
And Williams for Lualala. Both Ofa and Wiliams play both sides. It would be interesting to see who plays where. Having said that, I'll understand the need for Lualala's scrumming against the Boks if he is selected.

Remember when Richie was hailed a hero for dropping an elbow into that fat Saffa, now Cane does his best to preempt that situation and protect the ref and it's now an issue to some. 😉

Richie pulled him off but AJ Venter was the one who punched him.

Facts have no business on the Fern.

@Nepia Yeah he was solid. A 7 out of 10 performance for me. The commentators made out like it was prime Kaino out there which it wasn't, but he did a decent enough job.

I reckon Fozzie and Ryan will be delighted with Frizell.

He was doing exactly what I think he's picked for - providing a tall and effective third lineout option, making his tackles and trucking the ball up one off the ruck and securely recycling. Got himself around the park and a few nice little touches e.g. in the first try, as well.

Hey TJ. The trick now is to see if he can do it again.

I reckon Kaino would've been pleased with himself to have played as well as Shannon did today!

Your job, in future, is to correct anyone who comes out with the outrageous line that Frizell has never had a good test, so that I don't have to be called TJ. 🙂

Jesus TJ, if you keep making calls like this we'll be permanently calling you TJ. That was early career Kaino at best. 😉

From a PR perspective it creates unnecessary noise. The pitch invader is a dickhead. As a player his role is to ignore what goes on around him and let the officials deal with it.

I agree. He should have hugged him and given him a medal.

We do all know there is a kind of middle ground right? One that doesn’t involve glorifying the twat with a medal, but also doesn’t run the risk of injuring the fuckwit - or worse, injuring Cane himself.

Grabbing his collar maybe? A gentle tackle? A push? Or even just an ignore.

At the end of the day, I also hope Cane doesn’t get any censure. But there is no escaping the fact that it was a heat of the moment stupid thing to do.

NZ captains sometimes just can’t help themselves when the opportunity arises to trip someone eh? 😬

I see the PC arseholes are having a go at Sam Cane for dealing with someone who had no right to be on the field of play. I’ve no issue with the All Black Captain looking after his players. What if the bloke running past security had been carrying a knife?

Hats off to Sam, a great leader and a worthy captain of the greatest sports team in the world.

@Nepia Here's some guy called Reece Labuschagne who will really annoy you... 🙂

    Stuff

Carried with bad intention, committing several Argentine defenders in a performance All Blacks great Jerome Kaino would've been proud of.

The worst part about the Cane clip is the security guard chasing STILL doesn't get him even after the epic foot trip! Terrible stuff.

@Chris-B by my reckoning Frizell has had 2 half-decent games out of 25. If he continues to be selected, then hopefully his next one will be in the quarter final. Though based on his average to date, his next decent game will be in 12.5 tests, so more likely next year some time.

The problem with a lot of ground security across the world is that it’s private companies who don’t necessarily recruit for fitness, pace and sprinting ability.

Some years ago at the MCG they had Victorian police doing the ground security and they always had the fit cops who could chase. Now it’s private security.

Yeah, hopefully with another week in camp he'll start to settle in and be ready to take the bench spot, as on ability alone he's pretty clearly our 2nd best HB right now.

Huge potential and def. hope a bench spot next week over Christie. I do wonder if Foster & Co. made the wrong choice between Christie & Weber

We need to give game time to potential gems Tamaiti Williams, Cameron Roigard and Samipeni Finau. Potent. Sir Foz has gained huge BPs but this needs to happen. At least 20 mins off the bench

I wouldn’t mind seeing one of Brodie or Sam sit out the rest of the games at any given time to keep Lord in the saddle until RWC.

Happy to leave DMAC at 10 too. I think I’ve seen enough already.

    Finlay Christie is a dud.

    Caleb Clarke on thin ice.

Plenty of better footballers knocking around.

With Stevenson or Jordan at 15 yesterday we’d have won by 15 more

@Steve struggling to see what BB offers. The try to Jordie yesterday looked so fucken good... because you just expected Beauds to stuff it up somehow.

He sold his soul to the devil for his early career tinbum and is now paying the price.

@Old-Samurai-Jack I suspect Jordan will get right wing, I really think BB is considered so good at communication from the back, they will be tempted to keep him there. At test level etc, the 15 is usually the one telling the backs what he sees ahead in behind opposition.

Be interesting to see the team , I would guess they had a plan to start dmac in that game and Richie the next game and will probably stick with that plan, despite the temptation to see how dmac would go against the boks

    Dunno, just a hunch
